Tailscale and openvpn on android

I am somewhat new to the networking side of things.

I have a nas setup to remote into with tailscale, I use it for jellyfin and immich.

and I use bytzvpn.

On my Brax3 I can not see a way to use tailscale and openvpn, it tries to activate both and says only one can be used at a time.

On my furiphone I am able to activate tailscale in terminal and use openvpn through network settings. Problem is openvpn kills my battery life and bytzvpn does not have a wiregaurd option.

Is there a way to use both on android that I am missing ?

Thank you.

I didn’t know about Tailscale but it seems that it tries to reconfigure the VPN connection
so you can only have one of them.

Have you verified that on Furiphone Tailscale actually goes through the VPN ?

It may works in parallel or it replaces OpenVPN without you noticing it.

Natively Android supports the IKEv2 VPN protocol that bytezVPN maybe supports.

Yeah I have checked on the furiphone. It uses them simultaneously like any of my other Linux devices. But yeah android was always shutdown the other, I am able to have one or the other active.

I thought you wanted to tunnel Tailscale through BytezVPN. Android is very strict with security, if you could do that probably any app would be able to circumvent your VPN.
