Hey,
So I was looking for a way to keep my windows 10 going and fell over Rob’s videos.
I now consider buying one, I really want to get off the iPhone.
But honestly ya’ll talk way above my level in English. So just to clear some stuff. Before I go for this, what should I not do, to keep my privacy intact. I see some google login etc. So please would someone be able to give me a “do not list” so I know what not to do, but in a language for a newbe who just really appericiate privacy and just say tech because the rest is to difficult to spell.. and understand. Tells my level, right.
Here you will find discussions on different level of tech proficiency - beginner to very advanced. We welcome all, so you’re sure to be helped when you go on a journey of using more privacy-focused phone.
There are some fundamentals you can start with on your phone. First, try to limit using big tech services as much as you can. When it comes to phones, the big one is Apple or Google, depending on the phone model (in your case Apple) - both being equally intruding. You unfortunately can’t really limit apple on an iPhone (iOS is closed sourced, preventing modifications), but you can limit Google on an Android. The process is called degoogling - disabling Google services. The BraX3 runs a deGoogled Android OS from the box, and helps you get started on the journey quick.
If you’re switching over from iPhone, the process will be painful initially as many things will not be familiar/intuitive for you. For some people the pain is worth it as they regain control over their digital data. The community here is friendly and helpful if you’re on the journey.
That’s great to know I hope I’ll get on track fast understanding.
So for deGoogled how to go about email and such should I provide a new mail for phone use which is not gmail, outlook or icloud which would be to prefere instead?
I have had iPhone since 4s on presale. but because I have elderlies in my circle whom have no clue how to use an android I am some what familier with it. Which I see now to my benefit.
I have kept to iPhone cuz of the settings are known to me and just never fell for the other andorids when I had a phone I was so comfortable with. But today I actually just want a phone which can keep me private and not be a spy in my own home. Also because all these things coming into reality when one look at the survalince deals I am so tried of it.
So my phone is swhitchable if a better option is shown I was condersing buying an iPhone 6 and figure out how to switch it into linux this idea I find much more suiatble and sounds like something that might get popular when people realize its worth by time.
