I have a hidden SSID WiFi network hosted by Lamobo R1 hardware running OpenWrt. My (very) old phone running an ancient LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2) works fine with my hidden WiFi network. My new Brax3 phone never sees nor auto connects to this network while it is configured with the “Hide ESSID” option. As soon as I turn off the “Hide ESSID” option in OpenWRT, my new Brax3 phone immediately connects to the network with no issues.
There is a setting where you have to say the network is not broadcasting. I ran into this too with a Wifi network and took me a while to see that one setting I had to set as not broadcasting (or not visible, I forget the exact language). I don’t remember exactly where it was but I think it was one of the advanced settings when you are putting in the network information. It wasn’t obvious which is why I didn’t see it first.
Ah glad you found it. I came back here after looking it up and was about to say exactly where. It is interesting the setting is only visible when setting up a network. Not editing one.
So it looks like the phone is able to connect to the hidden network but then once it gets disconnected for a period of time, it never reconnects. I am able to get it reconnected again once I delete and re-add the network. Any ideas?
