Update from iode 6.6 to 7.1

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone was having issues updating their brax phone from iodeos 6.6 to 7.1? In my case, I am connected to Wi-Fi, and verified that the connection works. I do not have a sim card in my phone yet as I am preparing it. When I attempt the update using the update manager, I get a “The download failed. Please check your internet connection and try again later” error. I checked and made sure the updater has network access allowed. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you read the information on Updating to v7.0 and later from v6.x; and downloaded the one off manual update package? If not that will be why it’s failing.

Do a quick search here - there’s a whole thread on it (so you will find it easily) and it’s also all in the iodé news app on your phone, if you read the details of the 7.0 update announcement, etc.

Hello!

I hope I am typing this problem where it needs to be.

I purchased 3 B3 phones last year. Two for back ups.

I started having a problem sending pics when I updated my first B3 phone to 6.8. I would intermittently get an “Error 5” and the picture wouldn’t send. No matter which way I tried to send it, it would fail. I would try again a while later and sometimes it would send normally, and sometimes I would still get the same error message and it wouldn’t go through.

I contacted iode via email and asked if there was a known problem with the 6.8 update sending pictures. The first response I got back from an iode tech was, “have I updated my phone to 6.9?” I told the tech there was no update for 6.9 that I could see. The tech’s second response was, “oh that one hasn’t been released yet.” And that was the end of that. Problem not resolved.

So today I decided to open my second B3 phone, put my sim in, and connect to my wifi. My intention was to see if this second B3 phone was going to give me the same problem when I sent pics via text messaging. I tried to go through the setup, and it’s become a nightmare. Nothing like the easy set up with my first B3 phone.

The most recent version of iode on my second B3 is 6.3. I tried to update iode to the most recent version but was unable to do so. I got a screen stating “update blocked” with instructions to read “https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/brax3/upgrade/” That page is not found.

I also have another problem - This second phone is running Android 15 and I can not figure out how to update to 16. I am not a techy and I am totally confused.

I read what was on this page, but it’s for those who have no wifi or mobile data.

I tried going through both my B3’s side by side through all the menus and I can not figure out what I need to do to get my newest B3 up and running.

If anyone is able to help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Android 16 is iodéOS 7.x, follow the instructions to update and if the MMS problem persists post here for further instructions, Unable to connect to my home WiFi connection - #2 by george

Thank you for the quick response, George. What instructions am I supposed to follow? I’ve been all over this page and I can not figure out how I’m supposed to do that.

Ok, I downloaded the file v6 to v7. Where am I supposed to extract it to? Or do I just put it on the phone the way it is?

And you can’t post more than 3 replies in a row here… Trying again…

Now my phone is showing on my laptop. Can’t drag and drop the zip file on the phone. Unable to copy. I guess I’m supposed to extract it? Then just drag and drop onto my phone?

You’ll copy both files to the phone, don’t extract anything, you will run the .apk by clicking on it and you will load the .zip when the updater prompts you.

Go to Settings and search for USB in the search bar and choose “File transfer”.

Already extracted into a folder. I’ll have to do it again. I’m not sure what other file you’re referring to. This is all clear as mud to me. Sorry to be a burden.

The v6-to-v7 file is an installable Android package (.apk), you tap on it and it’s installed.

Have my phone connected to my laptop. When I attempt to drag the v6 v7 file to my phone device it says it can’t write to it. I’m going to have to give up on this. I have no idea what I’m doing. Thanks for your time all the same, I appreciate it.

You can only copy in specific folders, copy it into the Download folder, don’t just throw it in the phone icon. You are almost done.
