USB audio not working

Hi. I am at a late point in trying to fix this. The point where I spent dozens of hours, tried many suggestions, enabled developer options and tried different settings, tried different USB connected device protocols, installed Android Auto and uninstalled it, updated everything. The point where I am beyond frustrations with this. All I want to do it connect my Brax 3 to my 2022 Ford sync 3 audio system and have the audio from the phone routed through the USB cable. Nothing else. Just like an iPhone I have ever plugged in. No Bluetooth, no Android Auto, just routing the audio through the USB cable. With all the sacrifices I have made getting off Apple and Google, I simply cannot live without being able to route my audio through the USB cable. Can anyone be so kind to solve this issue please? I feel trapped. I cannot go back to Apple or Google but I need the audio. Thank you

I’m just not sure how you would even do that? At least without Android Auto or Apple CarPlay? You’d need the DAC in the car to process the digital audio from the phone and it’d need a protocol to talk to each other.

If you can get the phone connected by USB, your car supports having USB memory sticks being plugged in, and you can get the BraX3 into memory storage mode (from the USB menu options when you connect it) - the car may be able to read the phone’s storage like a memory stick… and the car music system can scan the music library.

But if you do that why not just put all the music on a USB stick to start with and plug that into car’s head unit I guess…?
:man_shrugging:

Otherwise without knowing the details of your car system I can’t see any way to drive the music from your phone into the head unit without AA or ACP…?

But someone more knowledgeable may know.

The BraX3 has a 3.5mm audio out so you could connect via an old fashioned analogue 3.5mm cable if your car has an input… or you might be able to use a USB to 3.5mm cable so they aren’t trying to talk to each other digitally (dependign on what the car and the phone support regarding USB to analogue connections)…?

P.S. Did you have it working the way you describe previously with a standard phone?

Hi. Thank you for your reply. My car does not have an aux in jack and also having the phone do the digital to analog conversion would reduce the quality I am thinking. The main issue here is that the 2022 Ford audio system is extremely flawed. It always says “indexing the phone” or it is unresponsive, or it lock you out from choosing an artist or playlist because you are driving. The phone app always works reliable.
I have not been able to try this with a stock Android phone but every iPhone I have ever connected could do this flawlessly. The audio would simple switch the the car audio after selecting the phone as an audio source. Thank you

USB Audio Player Pro… your problems will probably be solved. You can buy it via Google Play or Huawei… BUT, if you go to their website you can download the app as a demo, to test first. Its about $8-9 and does work. Also, if you buy the in-app plugins they will transfer to other phones with MicroG.

If you search theforumfor that app,I have discussed it a lot.

Thanks xancudo. That was a complete waste of time. I cannot choose the USB cable as the music output in the player and the system settings don’t allow me to add another playback device via USB (only bluetooth)

I was able to disable bluetooth via adb command (and it feels good to be in control) but did nothing for my audio dilemma. My ford does only allows Android auto via bluetooth, so I’ll scarp the Android auto idea. I dont know. maybe I have to sell the phone and go back to apple. I need music in my car. Nobody knows how to fix this.

One more question: is it a secret how apple and android audio works? I have posted this in other areas too and no one seems to know what protocoll and format the audio goes from the iphone to the car stereo. Thanks

I could be wrong but I believe most, if not all, modern car infotainment centers come with both android auto and apple carplay installed. what ever format/phone you use to connect is auto-detected by the head unit itself.

When you connect your phone, have you actually chosen the right USB setting to allow data transfer? I presumed you had been? You can’t just plug it in and it works - need to tell the phone what to do with the USB connection. See my post linked above if not.

e.g. My Mazda’s #2 USB Port shows disabled even with phone connected until you allow data transfer on the phone.
