What's the best VPN(s) for Brax3 on the F-Droid app?

What is the best VPN for the Brax3 that you can get off of the F-Droid app?

I am currently using Proton VPN, but I’ve heard the chatter that they are selling out, moving out of Switzerland, and logging user activity. I tried SocksTun, but when activated it just made the internet completely unusable on my phone. I’d like to get the input of other people on this community and see what works, what doesn’t, and what’s a trap. Save myself, and hopefully others a lot of time and personal experimentation.

I’ve used Lavabit in the past but last I checked, it’s not been updated in 3 years.

I wouldn’t believe all the hype - there are a lot of Proton haters out there who misrepresent what’s happening and/or miss the obvious because they can’t see the wood for the trees.

@jantinzi and @xancudo summed it up pretty well in their posts in this earlier thread, and I agree with them. Furthermore in this specific case Proton found a way to warn its users indirectly, despite having a court order preventing it from disclosing details of what had specifically occurred, which should be commended. So this has been hashed 100 times… What I read was that the agency found out, or guessed the address. However… on that point… and while I’m not saying the article is right or wrong, or you are correct or incorrect, but as stated by @jantinzi , one needs to comb through all the features, and tighten to the point of feeling safe. The reason a move (or rather partial move) from Switzerland has been mooted has been explained in detail by Proton elsewhere; but basically there are a couple of reasons - one is that Switzerland is starting to pass new legislation that’s detrimental to privacy and which will make Switzerland no better than the EU from that perspective - so the whole reason for being based there is undermined and fast becoming redundant. The second reason, IIRC, is capacity.

Meanwhile the Proton haters suggest alternatives based in places like the USA - so where’s the logic in that? AFAIK the EU still has better privacy laws than the US, even if they are not ideal…

So what everyone is screaming about as reasons to ditch Proton are actually largely good reason(s) to stay with them…
