Why isnt the Brax3 battery removable? For a security phone it seems odd the battery cannot be removed to prevent tracking by cell phone tower location pings. Also, not possible to swap batteries while charging. How to get a second battery, anyway?
So can I ask… if you bought the Brax3 off the Indie site… they never advertised the battery was removable. So Why did you buy it and thets why I ask this…
It’s just the way it is.
I have not bought one, I am considering buying one. Frankly it makes no sense to me why a privacy phone would not have a removable battery. ‘Just the way it is’ was not really insightful but thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I completely understand your thinking. Maybe look at a Fairphone. Those have removable batteries,
Perhaps I misunderstand. Can the BraX3 phone’s battery not be replaced in time? (I, too, am considering buying one).
Yes it can be replaced by a technition but there are two issues. First is with the battery in the phone, even if the phone is off it can be tracked. Second is if the battery is low and you cannot charge it you have no second battery to swap.
So my Fairphone 4, I can just pull the back off and pop out the battery. In the Brax3, you have to unseal the back cover, and pop a connector.
On the Fairphone 5 it’s about that easy as a Fairphone 4.
On the Fairphone 6 it take two accessory screws.
The Brax3 is not that easy, but you can do… check out some vidoes on all those devices I just mentioned.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. Your answer is helpful.
I went to YouTube and watched Mr. Braxman’s video on setting up a Brax3 phone. it had nothing about changing a battery, so I’ll have to keep looking. Your description of how to do it seems fairly straightforward, so I have hope. ![]()
The battery is not designed to be used like that. Its not hot swapable like older non-smart phones. It is designed that you can replace it yourself, with only a little effort, when its worn out…
Thank you, Mycenius, for clarifying that for me. I appreciate it.
