Hello all.
I’m actually day to day user of UBT on another (but well supported) phone with Focal.
I’m waiting for a Brax3 phone.
Any information on the port process of this phone to UBT.
If i can (in any way) help to test this OS, let me know.
I have also a spare/backup phone on Noble with last build.
Best regards!
Jean-Luc …
hey Jean-Luc.
We will post soon the latest status of the UBT port. Great to hear you’re willing to help with beta testing. It will certainly help a lot. Cheers
Thanks @plamen
The Brax3 is a project full of promise.
Seeing it run under Ubuntu Touch will be a real treat.
This OS deserves so much better than its current niche success.
I have received my Brax3 in Belgium.
A thousand thanks to the entire team who successfully completed this wonderful project!!!
Looking forward to it!
I have a second brax3 specifically to help with testing UBT. If there’s a list of people to help definitely put me on it. I’ve used on and off before, but haven’t been able to daily it in the USA yet.
I’ve got an old Pixel 3aXL that got replaced with the Brax3, will I be able to try Ubuntu Touch OS on this phone?to test?
I am willing to purchase a second phone for purpose of testing UBT. Keep me posted when the next round ships with the release/port candidate.
I think the goal here is to develop UT for the Brax3 specifically. I think if you want to further UT development in general on something else you need to connect with the UT community
Any status update regarding this?
Our devs got the UB touch to boot on the BraX3. We’re working through a handover with the UB Ports team so they can take it over.
We will be publishing the source code and how-to install soon.
Brilliant!
Your team is truly incredible!
A thousand thanks!
Very good news.
If you or UBports need beta testers or contributors, I am voluntary.
That will be needed, for sure. I will communicate around that the moment we or UB ports publish the source and flashable builds.
Since the iodeos team yesterday said the solution to the wifi bug is “beyond us”, I’m already seeing inquiries for other OS possibilities. UBports support from modern hardware is why I bought a BraX3, so I’m VERY much looking forward to the UBports release. This OS was my daily driver in the past, so I think I’d be a capable beta tester. I’ll admit it’s been disheartening to hear no mention of BraX3 in the Q&A sessions at Blog Posts | Ubports , but they’re behind on posting, as they’re current only through August. But hey - it’s all free software, so no complaints here. ![]()
It took several years to have a fully functionnal fairphone 3 under ubuntu touch.
So people, don’t be so rushed about this. This won’t work out of the box. And features won’t work for several years surely.
First statement is fair. The second one is not a based assumption.
There is a lot of knowledge accumulated in the UB Touch community since the early ports. They are able to fix stuff way faster than before, as there are less issues that are new to them.
It’s better to measure based on the more recent ports done (took a few months to port UB Touch on the Quintus, and almost all works except fingerprint sensor, as far as I can see in the documentation)
okey sure let’s see how it goes but I know also that all those devs since we have meetup here in europe regularly, are not dedicated to that. It’s mostly a hobby project and it depends of the actual documentation of the brand freely available. So we’ll see but I am clearly not convinced.
“Experience is a lantern that we carry on our backs and that only illuminates the path we have already travelled.” Confucius.
Let’s allow those working on the port to proceed at their own pace.
The phone currently has a great operating system, and UT will be another big step forward.
This project has two clear benefits: for ubports, adding modern phones to the list of devices that support Ubuntu Touch; for Brax Technologies, enabling the use of an operating system that offers better privacy and is open source.

Great Quote - as always we don’t know what we don’t know - so everyone (last few posts) could be right in some way…
I have a normie phone just in case. Can’t wait to try Ubuntu Touch
