Audio volume is very low for speakerphone and wired headset in calls and when playing media.
When playing audiobooks, music, etc. the volume is very low. Taking calls on speakerphone and even with my wired, noise cancelling, earphones is very quiet. I have tried to use the AudioFX app to boost all frequencies to het max and have all my audio levels set to the max. This produced no discernible change in the perceived audio volume.
Is there a way, in the iodeOS software, to drive the Brax3 speaker to function more loudly? It is borderline unusably quite in even moderately noisy environments.
So I have logged this as an issue. But there has nit been much action on it.
if you want a work around, USB Audio Player Pro in google store fixes a lot of the audio issues.
It costs, but works well. You have to buy CIA google or hauwai
It replaces the aosp driver with a custom driver.
Thanks for this! Is there any word on where this custom driver comes from? Can it be audited and integrated via adb or some other method so we dont have to download some sketchy app from google play? I don’t think that’s an option for me anyway because Aurora cant do pay apps iirc. It must be able to be done without root if an app can do it.
That driver is written by the developer of the USB Audio Player Pro… his software is all audiophile related stuff. It very feature rich. Its the only Google app I’ve paid for, lol
Its not done at root. Google the app and go to the website, and decide for yourself. It works for my usecase
He does have a demo you can download, and try…
I do not have any real volume issues with my beta phone and I have not tried my purchased phone yet. Is it possible you are looking for an extreme loudness that is just bad for your ears to begin with and maybe there is a different hearing issue? or B, maybe your phone is experiencing some issues that is not as common. It may be hardware related, but I never have any issues with my ear buds or car bluetooth.
All of our Brax3 phones have the same low volume. Even the Brax2’s volume was lower then our other phones; but the Brax3 is even quieter. There’s a known issue with the AOSP audio driver.
Just received phone today and I have the same issue, volume is extremely low…almost unusable as well. It’s not me, my 4 kids and wife all stated it was way too low in volume - it’s a problem even with a little to no noise in the immediate area. It will need to be addressed one way or another…& I’m not against purchasing an app - I just don’t want to compromise my privacy. Let me know if you find a solution that works for you, thanks!
Yeah, was on 2 calls today and the volume was so low I could barely handle my business. Had to keep asking my associate to repeat themselves. It’s a significant impact to productivity.
However, if you can do your calls over signal, the volume is fine; but over the regular phone app, its so quiet you can barely use it.
I bought a Qudelix-5K DAC AMP as a work-around.
It connects to the BRAX3 via bluetooth and fits easily in my shirt pocket.
For me, makes phone calls comfortable although rather clumsily =).
Cool, this has a balanced output also…
So have you used this only with BT, and not cabled? I ask, becasue my Fiio wouldn’t play anything when connected to the USB port, unless I had the Audio Player Pro app in use (my response above on Aug 6), as it uses it’s own driver.
Yes, only with BT. 2 wires is 2 much fer me.
I tried the Fiio and chose the Qudelix. Plus it’s a funnier name. ![]()
lol I may have to get one and give it a try.
I am having same problem. As I only use the speaker to listen this is a major problem. Is there a fix coming? (Will try to figure out how to report issue.)
We would like to figure out how to replace the audio driver just like the “USB Audio Player Pro” does.
It has to be possible without root because the app does it. How is it replacing the audio driver? Where can we get this, or any other, replacement audio driver?
I would be willing to pay the dev for this information. I am not against paying them for their work. I just am not willing to add a google account to my privacy phone to buy this, or any other, app.
Is there an update on issue please? I’ve had to swap back my old smartphone as I can’t hear phone calls either via normal old fashioned method (i.e. hold phone to ear) or via speaker phone.
If nothing has happened, how do I “raise an issue” please. Tx
Thanks for contributing. If enough of us complain, then the issue will get more attention. I am working on a solution; but I am no android dev. So, my success is not guarnteed.
Cool, thanks from all of us for your efforts.
Has anyone noticed a volume increase with the 4.7 OS update? My browser sounds noticably louder after updating and the regular phone app’s calls are a bit louder as well.
Sad news everyone. After analyzing USB Audio Player Pro, it seems this app just proxies the audio through itself in an attempt to provide better audio quality/boosting/equalizing. This can be a glitchy and buggy process with some audio streams/sources.
Bottom line, this app is not replacing the audio driver, it’s just bypassing it; which means we cannot replace the audio driver without root. Which was what I was foolishly hoping for. ![]()
The good news is that the newest version of iodeOS has boosted the audio volume. So, the problem is no longer as bad as it was before. I can use the phone speaker and play media in the browser now without it being too quiet to hear.
That’s interesting in general, not just in relation to your issue. I wonder what they changed? I had not noticed that, and I use speaker phone semi-regularly - but then I don’t have the loudness issue with SP on my BraX3 you’ve experienced…
