Australian Telco detected my Brax3 as a non approved phone and will black list it soon

Australia the Dystopian Authoritarian Surveillance State capital of the universe has decided It will ban phones that have been purchased outside of Australia.

My brax3 has been detected as such and I received a notice that It will be black listed on the 27th of Oct 2026 when I will no longer be able to make phone calls inside Australia with it.

The Brax3 supports VoTLE which conforms to regulations but regardless there is a blanket band on all international phones.

Will I be able to spoof a some sort of new digital ID that will make my Telco think it’s another Device?

Are you with Vodafone? Banned lists seem to be different for different carriers

If I end up in the same boat, time to learn the arduous task of changing the imei

Yes I am with Vodafone. I’ve been with them for 5 years now but about 1 hour after this post I rang them up to cancel my account. The Vodafone tech guy never heard of the Brax3 and he said he wants one now. I going to Telstra. I typed my IMEI into the Telstra online tool and it Identified my phone as a Brax3 straight away saying " good news! your phone Is not black listed and has No known compatibility issues". Vodaphone runs random checks It seems I won that lottery this month, lucky me. Vodaphone said they would give me a free phone but I told them I don’t want their Google surveillance device. Hopefully Vodaphone didn’t start a irreversible blacklist process that applies across all Australian Telcos.

Did you see this thread: (read down to the bottom)

It seem that Telstra and Optus have a way of asking the phone what it can do, and Vodafone doesn’t. Vf have a list of phones the phone makers have told them are good, and all others (ie. not iPhone or Samsung) are bad. Hopefully BraxTech are following thru on this.

Basically all device models can be identified by the first 6 digits of the device IMEI (the TAC allocation). It’s registered with GSMA, so anyone with access to the device database can search it. Telcos do get the device IMEI when it connects on their network. Vodafone also get it, and they can identify it’s a BraX3, they have decided to not whitelist it for a reason. We’ve reached out but didn’t get any feedback on why - we’re assuming that they want to offer services to devices they sell directly via their stores.

Vodafone told me that they blacklist all phones that are bought overseas, But the story always changes depending which person you talk to. Anyway I read that when manufactures stop updating older phones Most Telcos are going to black list them. Great news for Samsung, They must have our politicians on the payroll.

when are you Aussies gonna say “enough!”???

Well I for one have been to protest marches through Brisbane in the last month against Internet censorship and for Enshrining Freedom of speech into the constitution, among other conservative goals which I most likely can’t discuss in this forum. So much is wrong with Australia atm, I don’t know if it can be saved at this point. Every Conservative should be concerned with surveillance these days. Left leaning Politicians have banned items of disguise a law only applied to conservative protestors which carries a jail term in some states. NSW premier Chriss Minns has threatened to Doxx people and ruin their lives using Digital government Confidential records .
