Auto-rebooting issue

I see this topic was brought up before but the thread was closed:

To answer the questions within the above thread:

  • Have you noticed any pattern with the reboot? Like any activity before the device reboots?
I can’t say because the reboot always happens when I’m not looking at it.
  • How often would the device reboot?
    At least once per week.
  • Can you confirm which OS version are you currently using?
    6.3-20250526-brax3

The auto-reboots wouldn’t normally be such a bother, however, there is an ongoing bug in AOSP (and hence CalyxOS, GrapheneOS) where the selected calling account always resets upon a boot to the installed SIM instead of your chosen phone account - in my case “Ask First”. I’ve been involved in message threads on this bug for at least a couple years now, but both Calyx and Graphene both seem to deflect on this issue, so it must be a more difficult issue than I perceive since it still isn’t resolved on any custom ROM.

@Bob99 we are currently up to 6.8 and version 6.9 is just being released… You should probably get the OS updated to the latest to start with (as you are about to be 6 releases behind current one), to see if that resolves your issue. There have been numerous bug fixes over the last 6 months.

As you say there are some other known bugs - but there’s also a good chance your specific one might have been fixed…

Yikes - I guess I’m surprised. I pull updates from Fdroid and Aurora frequently. I’ve seen OS updates come automatically, though it seems they are only for the browser. I’m not sure I’ve seen any major IodeOS updates come down and by searching settings for “update” or “upgrade”, I don’t see anywhere to force an update. I guess I took it for granted that updates were automatic but apparently I’m not getting them and don’t know where to look. Can you refer me to a doc that might get me on-track? I did a search and I was referred to an upgrade app, but I don’t find any app by that name on my phone.

You need to use the Updater App for the OS. Also check the iodé News App for updates on when the new OS versions are released…

That’s what I would expect to see, however, when I search I don’t find it. See my apps along with me searching the apps. Seems like I may be missing Updater? Weird.

Chech Here - you may have unintentionally removed it:

It was missing and the “Download” option was there to put it back. Thanks! I’ll see if the auto-rebooting goes away now.

I’ve let the new version bake a couple weeks and the unsolicited auto-rebooting seems to have stopped. Mucho appreciado!
