I was expecting WIFI switches.
I don’t want switches.
Yeah, I think switches on a phone would be pretty awful unless implemented incredibly subtly (so some would be okay in that instance, but would have ramifications for protective case design)… Not so bad, and probably desirable, on a tablet like open_slate.
The Pinephone has switches and the only thing I was switching off was the modem because it was a separate PCB which was consuming much power even without a SIM card.
Rob mentioned a month or two ago that an updated Brax3 was planned with improved screen.
Did that ever happen? @plamen
Yes, there is a new batch with brighter screen and fast charge.
Oh I thought Rob said it would be a higher resolution screen.
It’s a brighter screen with better contrast. The resolution, spec wise, is the same.
Does it still use DC dimming for brightness control, or is there PWM?
Same question: Which PWM frequency or DC? Thanks
I think for me this issue determines whether I’d buy the revised Brax3. @plamen
In addition when it comes to Dimensity-based phones people have mentioned on Reddit’s r/PWM_Sensitive subreddit that these have temporal dithering that needs to be disabled to reduce eye strain. I wonder if iodeOS and/or Ubuntu Touch allows doing that.
This is very low level, if you know there is some setting for this on Android I can have a look. Else it’s a Linux setting that has to be changed by rooting the device. Forget Ubuntu Touch, it’s useless for the time being.
Please show us the connectors so we can buy the right one. Ali’s got plenty but a lot of variation in connector placement. Thanks.

Glad to see someone else having the same carrier. Are you also experiencing the same messages/alerts from Swisscom about phone incompatibility with 4G/5G, as the 3G is being phased out?
I might have had a message at start up but I decided to ignore it. It has been flawlessly working since delivery in august 2025.

Under the back cover like the pinephone… I thought that brax had that too ( being a privacy oriented phone) now i am seeing people say that the battery is not removable on brax3
… really?
