Rik, thanks for following up. I just retried the full SP flash firmware update process. Once again, I received the “Unknown error ocurred, please contact the tool owner” message. I removed the USB cable from the phone, and powered it on. It showed the Brax screen, then the iode logo, and that is where it has stayed for the past two hours. Are you absolutely certain this isn’t a problem with iode rather than the hardware?
Many others have done that process (myself included) and have not had the issue. That is why I suspect hardware. I would need to re-check the error message, I didn’t run it in a while and don’t really want to reflash my phone now, but there was some error message at the end.
You did see a lot of the flashing in the status bar going on before the error message, right?
When flashing, the status bar indicated something was happening, and it seemed to have worked without errors through step 24/25 (this was the longest process, and I confirmed it completed at 100%). It was after that the error message popped up.
Are there some specific steps I should follow after flashing, beyond simply unplugging the USB cable and powering on the phone? For example, should I go to recovery mode and select Reboot System Now, or Apply Update? I am unclear as to what to do after the error message pops up on the SP flash tool. Apologies for taking up so much of your time, I really wish someone from Brax Technologies would reach out…
This all matches my experience.
Hello @plamen
I hope you are well
Do you have an estimated time when we will get any answer from Brax Support?
It’s been 3 days already since I sent you guys an email explaining what’s happening with the phone and so far no answe besides the automatic email?
Thank you!
Really sorry about that. Ticket slipped the team it seems. You will get feedback within today, including instructions to return the product.
Does the phone show up on the PC in it’s current state? If so, unlock the bootloader:
and then (after it disappears due to wiped data) spflash from that state and powered off. Phone should be bootlooping sans the iodé splash prior to spflash.
I’m guessing you have a locked bootloader and a partial installation indicated by the iodé splash hang. If you can’t get it to register on the PC then it needs to be replaced.
I have to do the reset every time I start the phone to get it to be able to send texts and make calls. There appears to be no tech support. All those with broken phones are sent to this site to be passisfied. I am kind of done with scam. This is my second “degoogled phone” that did not work. I have lost any confidence I once had in the project and would just like to get my money back.
Sounds like there is some telco compatibility issue. Which carrier are you using and in which country? Is it in the list of compatible carriers as per our articles BraX3 Connectivity: Global Compatibility Overview
The actual tech support is on this forum. You were sent here so it can be determined if an issue is related to software or hardware, before you get a replacement device and find out it didn’t change a bit.
There is usually a reason on why things don’t work well. Your issue with the BraX3 sounds like telco compatibility issue. We can try to help if you provide more info. Not sure why your other degoogeld phone didn’t work for you. Some things won’t work as well on degoogled phones as they do on google or apple phone, because of a decision to improve privacy at the expense of some functionality or convenience.
Email [email protected] if that’s the case.
This is good advice!!
Is this a second Brax device or you had some other device?
