Just initiated new Brax3. got sim with t-mobile -kept existing phone number.
Updated to 6.6… restart …
Now phone is in endless loop
says BRAX (after a min. gives a 1 sec. flash), goes dark then back to BRAX
over and over.
can’t turn it off or get out of the loop.
tried buttons, tried charging, tried removing sim and replacing sim…
…T-moble tech’s can’t help can anyone here help?
I managed to bring up an options menu by holding the volume button in. I tried various reboots and then factory reset but each time the endless loop continued.
finally using the volume toggle then the power button I managed to turn it off.
Here are more details:
I purchased two Brax3’s. T-moble helped & got mine up and running.
However the problem is with my wife’s brax3. She was on her son’s AT&T plan with her old MOTO so T-Mobile installed new SIM in brax3 then the above happened to her new phone.
Sorry for this bad situation! Please hold “Volume +” when booting. A menu will come up. Use “Volume +” to move the hilighted selection, and when on “Recovery” then press “Volume -” to boot into recovery.
Assuming that works, in recovery you can select “Factory reset” as a first attempt.
If that is how you did it before with no success, then you may need to manually install the latest image. It is easy for you to do that with adb sideload from recovery, but that means you need to have adb installed, not sure if you are Windows or Linux (or macOS).
If you are familiar with adb, then get the system download here. in Recovery you just select “Apply update” then use this command: adb sideload iode-6.6-20250729-brax3-ota.zip
Sorry if all this is above your paygrade (this isn’t for everyone), maybe Brax will have you ship back the device and they fix it for you. You would have to contact their support.
Rik,
I use Linux.
Factory reset did not break out of the loop.
As per your instructions, seems my only options are to [CANCEL] or GO BACK (<-)
at the ADB SIDELOAD sreen… I do not see how to send the command.
I looked at <fastboot or SP FlashHow to manually install or update your OS on your BraX3> …I’m very slow and that is likely over my head plus do not have the hours of trial and error it would take me to get through it.
I appreciate any further help or advice
Thank you!
The phone screen will just wait there while you send the adb sideload build.zip from your connected computer. So you need adb running on your PC.
@jsbic since on Linux, getting adb installed and functioning is quite simple. In Ubuntu based distros, this comes with android-sdk-platform-tools, other distros should have a package too.
I managed to download iode-6.6-20250729-brax3-recovery.img and got Brax3 to show up under DEVICES in the file system via USB connection but MX-linux reports that it cannot mount the Brax3 so I do not know how to apply the file to the Brax3 to see if I can get it out of the endless loop.
Also the OTA updates looks to be way over my head.
Any idea how to get my filesys to mount Brax3?
(I also emailed support and am waiting for their response.
I really think you should try the “full SP Flash” approach I linked just above. It is the sure way to confirm you will not have any issues.
But to mounting it in Linux, have you selected “File Transfer” in the drop down menu on the phone? By default it will not enable File Transfer. If that isn’t it or isn’t allowed, some also have this issue with USB Trusted Devices not enabled
rik,
As the phone is in an endless loop with no way to select “File Transfer” that I could find, I could not apply the “full SP flash” approach. I did download and unzip the mentioned files to my computer and also installed all the USB connection drivers I could find in the repos but the Brax3 does not mount. My Brax3 mounts with no problems but the 2nd Brax3, in the endless loop, does not.
Also Braxtech has not got back to me concerning the problem..
Yes, understood for the phone bootlooping. For using SP Flash the phone needs to be powered off and disconnected to start, it does NOT need to be mounted before starting. Please follow my guide for that. Repeating the link here:
I followed your guide.
(I Do not see how to send screenshots on here or I would show terminal and flash tool readouts)
Any road, The “Smart Phone Flash Tool” went through it’s “Firmware Upgrade” process (plugged in the Brax3 with the power off).
After the “Smart Phone Flash Tool” completed it’s work, I rebooted the Brax3 and it remains in the bootlooping as before.
The Smart Phone Flash Tool v.6 did report that “NO IMAGE FILE EXIST” but it did run the Firmware Upgrade through to completion.
So you downloaded the full image, then configured SP Flash Tool to use the download_agent/flash.xml file from the unzipped downloaded image, then did the “Firmware Upgrade” option in SP Flash tool?
The Brax3 was powered off and I did not insert the USB plug till download started and the Flashtool started. Then the phone was plugged in to the computer but powered off.
The flash tool did report “DA HW Info” on the left side of the screen.
OK thanks for all the time to attempt that. That error about “NO IMAGE FILE EXIST” is strange, but I think you have gone above and beyond.
@plamen do you have another idea? I think they should contact support at Braxtech for a replacement, something is clearly not right but it is hard to say from a distance.
