We need the ability to do call recording without rooting. It looks like in this link that call recording is enabled, but I don’t see that in the UI.
This was enabled for all countries in iode 7.2. Or at least, it’s in the changelog news entry for that version, and once I upgraded to it I started seeing a “record” button during calls.
It’s also been discussed already in some detail in these existing 2 threads, first one is still open so may be best to continue discussions there:
EDIT: and see also the discussion in the iodé community:
I asked the same. You do have a button to push when in a call to record, but the fact that you don’t have the option to automatically record calls is very disappointing…If I wanted a rooted phone I wouldn’t have bought BraX 3 because I already have a rooted phone with custom ROM, but I wanted to support this project which turns up to be a disappointment, especially because of the lack of auto recording of calls.
Disappointment is the spark that ignites the dynamite of contributing a patch that does what you want, it could be as easy as bringing back the code that LineageOS has retracted from previous versions, the whole open-source world exists because someone solved something that was disappointing people.
Ha. I’ll have to add this to my list. I don’t find coding (nor copying with flair) difficult. So now it’s:
Necessity is the mother of invention.
Laziness… “”
Disappointment… “”
Generally, I fall in the first two, but like your wording (and contribution detail) as well. ![]()
For fundamentally creative people laziness is accumulation of energy and insight , you find silly tasks as loss of resources, you can assess and solve complicated things that you may have no prior knowledge of but you refuse to do simple tasks like cleaning the house or collecting your tools after a renovation or some fixing. Let alone doing some tedious job like telephone center, cashier, insurance mediator or even worse STEM academic research.
Disappointment serves its purpose too, it ignites bursts of creativity for people who have become doomers not due to their nature per se but due to external conditions that force them to be zombie-like drooling consumers finding the next iPhone model as a purpose in life.
Disappointment is when you pay for a product expecting minimal features and you find out that automatically call recording isn’t an option, the screen brightness in daytime/ sunlight is almost unusable, when the phone is connected to charger the screen navigation gestures are almost unusable and the charging is too slow.
My “creativity” will make me spend my money on a superior hardware phone which I will use it with a rooted custom ROM and customized it the way I please it.
Any contract can be cancelled within 15 days and Braxtech accepts returns much later than this as far as I know.
The issue is related to the OS and can be fixed any time.
You can talk to Plamen for some potential plan of exchanging your device with the new batch that has improved screen and battery charging.
I got it last summer and only started using it recently, so those 14 days to return are up. It bought it mostly to support the idea… I forgot about the camera… In the low light is horrendous and also it’s very slow to take the picture.
This phone can only be used as a secondary phone at most, to browse the internet and maybe have a secure conversation via an app, otherwise I don’t see it’s purpose.
Instead of working to release a tablet I would have them preferred to release a new phone with high end hardware for which I would have paid 1000 USD and wouldn’t have bugged me the software glitches because with high end hardware specs for sure there would have been more people to contribute to the software.
The standard practice is to test the new device to know that it’s not dead on arrival and that it satisfies you else you return it.
You are still left with the option to negotiate with Plamen.
Personally I disagree with your arguments but that’s not the point here.
You are funny. Of course I tested it when I receive it, but not for extended period of time, just to see if it works.
You have to test a product for an extended period of time to see it’s pluses and minuses and I don’t have time to test phones.
With that time I better buy a high end phone and install a custom ROM, root and then use it as a highly dependable phone. This was bought just to support the project, but it’s a dissapointing product because they can’t even add the automatic call recording option.
Ask for a return, it’s straightforward.
