I did the bootloader unlock on my brax3 and after it completed, it disappeared from the USB <->Ubuntu Linux connection and did the Bootloop. Tried to go into recovery mode to no avail - don’t have the factory reset option. Flashing the stock MediaTek firmware on Linux is way above my knowledge/comfort level after researching it for a few hours… I’m going to use my wife’s Window’s laptop to use one of the two MTK Flash Tools. I just hope this doesn’t indicate a weak or faulty chip.
Note that due to a Mediatek firmware bug, unlocking your device you will break the ability to apply updates to the phone (the b slot is effectively borked). @plamen please put A HUGE WARNING at the top of this thread!
To the issue of reflashing to correct the broken b slot (updates can’t be applied) or other issues, I wrote up a bit of a simplified SP Flash guide:
Accessing the dev tools and enabling “OEM unlocking” should not cause an issue in corrupting your slot b on the phone, it is only when you actually unlock the bootloader (with fastboot flashing unlock) when you will get in trouble.
PS: Thanks for the note of appreciation, it helps as our very small team is a bit overwhelmed with so many new users all at once, and of course the wifi authentication issue is way deeper than our typical workflow to get a device onboarded (but I am sure we will get there in the end).
