Idiocracy (Not just a movie)

Watch carefully what happens when the protagonist gets tested at the clinic ( three tubes for insertion). I knew “idiots” who worked in a medical clinic who did outrageous stuff just to break the boredom. One of those things was illustrated in the video clip. Many years ago there used to be mercury thermometers. The glass thermometers intended for oral use were dyed blue on the tips. The thermometers intended for the “nether throat” were tipped in Red. They used them in an opposite manner for a joke. All of them were supposed to be sterilized, but the only way to know was how they were packaged…in paper. You had to be there. Here is another one. X Ray tech who was a moron. SCREAMING loudly at a patient to TAKE OFF YOUR SHIRT while being X Rayed again and again. The problem? he was standing there in his birthday suit, no shirt. The Xray image was of scalpels, forceps and other gear sewed up inside the patient! A team of physicians ran down to put him on a table and take him back to remove their “tools”. The patient got billed for the emergency surgery to remove the surgical instruments from his chest. Every surgery is supposed to get a flat plate XRay at conclusion before closing it up. The sponges and cloth items all have a radio opaque string that will show on an Xray image so this is not a common event.

Actually Post hoc ergo propter hoc. Correlation does not imply causation.

Oh man!!! That is nasty LOL

Oh yea I know it’s not. That’s worrying. On NHS particularly I imagine all kinds of things like that happen. Too many patients and not enough physicians. Not to mention they mix up records bad - the records and admin people are negligent. Especially when A&Es are full…

Do you want to here a good one about a records mishap? Patient a male about 25 years old was in the hospital for surgery. He had testicle removed for cancer. The surgeons removed the wrong side. Now he has his main gear but sings like a soprano. What the hell. When you were in high in school in a classroom and the teacher says raise your right hand. The teacher will raise their left hand because from the student view it is on the same side. So when the surgeon was looking at the “left” side it was the patients right side. Oops too bad, soo sad. So the patient got the second ( real side) surgery at no cost. What a deal?

Ooo. Man poor guy. Like rubbing salt in a wound there! Well, ultimately that is the goal i think. Seems like a lot of things decrease fertility these days - inadvertantly of course. Was that NHS? Sounds like NHS. Doesn’t shock me at all. In the medical field they do try to make it confusing about left and right - they teach you with an image (or really lots) where the subject is facing you (like the Teacher example) and in the texts they call the side in the perspective of the view - not the actual side. So a lot of students just memorise - they don’t use logic. Then on top of that, in real life, you get stupid accidents by staff that prep. Not to excuse it at all, but goes to show you can make BIG mistakes… I think because people just don’t care anymore. That’s what I’m seeing. Doctors used to come in and work to make sure the patient was cared for as much as possible (for the visit sometimes more) and then do the paperwork after, even if they worked past their shift, but now they clock-in and clock-out without bothering to transfer patients, paperwork, reports… it is literally just a job - no f’s given. No seriousness of the culpability of the actions, no respect, or even the basic care is there because it is just a job from this time to that time - some one else will handle it.

We should rename this chat Idiocracy. LOL

I think we are just objectively describing our experiences with modern 21st century Idiocracy. In medicine physicians are taught to learn and understand signs and symptoms, diagnostic methods including including tissue analysis. Xray and other medical procedures. The general idea is Care for the Patients needs. Scientifically the acronym SOAP is used. Subjective Objective Assessment Plans. In the USA Big Pharma, Big Surgery and Big Insurance are in control. There is limited Subjective. Patients are stupid and talk too much. Objective is ruled by ubiquitous ads on TV and social media about drugs used to treat rare, or made up diseases just to boost drug sales and profits. After a medication prescription it is time for R referral to a specialist who will wash dry and repeat. And we get to pay for this circus.

I live in California. You know all you need to know about the people living here. It is evidence our society is rapidly descending to the depths of idiocy. Question for you? Why do you think these following words which are not violent, not racist, not exclusive and not hate speech or anti women are able to generated so much hatred and anger? Words: Ignorant, stupid, idiot, imbecile, moron, vapid, morally incompetent, ignoramus, irrational, absurd, weak, silly, misandry, misandrist and more?

Because they’re being used as slurs and not just adjectives.

Is it possible that these are NOT slurs? Slurs can be rude. Objectivity is reality and exists by itself . When a tall tree falls down in the forest, does it make a loud sound ONLY when a nearby human hears it fall? Or is the reality of the sound present?

Can the birds and other animals hear the tree fall?

So motivation to say the word is implied? How can one know the motivation? Context is one, teasing or meanness is another. But reality can not be rude. Is it rude for the ARMY to reject a candidate by objective means? When the LAW requires a minimum score on the AFQT is it rude? An AFQT score less than 10 can result in serious injury or death because of accidents working with equipment.

Those words touch a nerve in the prideful. You would not be offended if you were not ignorant, stupid, idiot, imbecile, moron, vapid … These words would not speak to you if you did not, on some level, realize you are possibly in your own view these things or fear for your own image. Likewise you could call some one a B*tch (man or woman) and if may or may not offend. It is all ego fragility - Pride.

In California is there pride in being “common”? There is in the UK. People wear their benefits with pride and if you use certain words like you mentioned you can expect a punch up. There’s actively a have and have not mentality. If you have, they will destroy or steal it, because why did you deserve it and they didn’t? If you don’t have you are singing the song of the people and everyone welcomes your general misery with their own. Total opposite to what I see here on the East Coast (minus some large cities) seems to be localized within cities.

Well you may be implying a lot? In California you do not need to meet almost any standard regardless how low it is to get a high school diploma. By state laws you are not required to read any language or have any skills at arithmetic. The CAHSEE state mandated exam for senior high school students was found unconstitutional. the only legal requirement is for the student to sign a document that they have been present for 180.5 years of edumacation from grades 6-9. The highest level of arithmetic (Real Numbers only) legally required for instruction from the state Content standards is only grade 8. Language Arts, the skills to read and write can be answered with a simple Multpile choice assessment with a minimum score so low that randomly selecting responses can give you a passing score. The California state Bar exam was temporarily eliminated for those who feared “Covid 19” closeness to to other exam takers. The “Costco law school” will not be far behind. Anyone can qualify for a state license as a real estate agent in NO PASS NO PAY weekend license training exams. You only have to pay for the course once you pass the test. There are no limits on how many times you can take the test. Law Enforcement Officers ( those people who carry a badge and a gun and are permitted to use these) are no longer required to have a GED or High school diploma. In California, you do not have to have a real job to get a free apartment or house as lomng as you “think you that may soon” be hired to do any work ( parking lot cleanup). The state minimum wage for workers who are in the fast food business are REQUIRED to receive $20/hr or $41,600/year for full time work. There are few excuses that one can use to NOT receive a sizeable benefit just for being alive. Unfortunately, the benefits are so high that any reasonable attempt to do better ( higher income job, or better old car) can force an immediate reduction in benefits before the pay is received. So why try? These regulations keep a high population of well paid government “Eligibility Workers” to operate the many programs including Free cellphones, Free "Hot Spot internet Data plans, Free or low price food and nutrition. The large incidence of medical diseases in California include Obesity, Type 2 Diabetes and social diseases. If you are curious, look on Youtube and watch the entire movie for NO COST. California does not allow that Proof of Paternity ( DNA tests) be required to determine paternity for men ( married, boyfriend, hookup or any reason) to avoid paying court ordered child support (sounds like the movie?). 30% of all government funding for public education is set aside for those who claim they need services under many different mandated programs. If a student is home schooled they have a legal right to have the local school district provide the education or training at no cost to thew parents or legal guardian of the students. Transportation is provided for free. Free meals breakfast, lunch dinner are available for some students and families even when school is not in session ( winter, spring, summer breaks).

Yet some how I imagine if I went to California none of that would be available to me being that I am willing to work & try.

Same in UK. The less you try the more you get. I have a well educated friend who went on benefits. Reason one was too many people competing for jobs so she couldn’t get one that is well paying. That is true. You work for way less in the UK than in US and there are rarely bonuses & perks. Unless you know people you end uo with a base pay job. So she ended up working in retail. Someone pointed out to her she makes less working 40hours a week than she does on benefits. And now she has benefits, no job, & spends her days travelling. If I didn’t know it was true I wouldn’t believe it myself. In what world can that be good for a country? Blows everything I was ever taught about dilligence & working hard to have better out of the water.

I went to school with a friend who had outstanding grades in high school and college. He graduated with honors with a BS in Chemistry. He quickly learned that promotions and raises only went to those people who were losers, whiners and complainers in school. So he went on strike and only did the minimum work as a custodian. He avoided all the social inanities and blatant corruption and lived an austere life. No consumerism, no laddering up competing with typical BS people in HR, sales, marketing and fantasyland. His key to freedom? No debts. You can not steal or tax someone who has nothing. I have met many highly educated and potentially productive people but the monetary winners always goes to the mediocre and social engineers.

I agree as well. We both know the problems of the Socialism we experience and the Crony Capitalism of the large corporations. In the USA Crony capitalism is created when the rules regulations and minutia of authority is actually controlled by the capitalists. Look at any of the hundreds of US executive branch agencies. They are set up to regulate to “everyone” on paper but most people are too busy trying to survive to pay the lobbyists and make the mandatory campaign contributions that keeps the political merry go round running. The federal and state agencies view the largest businesses as “stakeholders” and everyone else pays the taxes for this game. It is ironic that many of the largest corporations complain about the regulations that they wrote in an attempt to keep market share for their products and services. Their biggest threat to corporate America is not government regulations but the small to medium size businesses that take away the small market share they do not control. The employees of most regulatory agencies work to impress those companies they regulate so they can get a job from those companies after they retire from the government. How do I know? Why do 99.9% of C corporations in the USA all have a “government affairs” or “external affairs” office? A small mom and pop shop can’t afford the $1,000/hr attorneys and lobbyists for that department.

And thus the impetus for control in the first place.

It works, no? This is why every suburb looks identical… (If we can just get the inner city and the underground, we’d be golden) A big corporate shit on humanity. An ode to greed
