iodeOS wifi connection issues

So my UDM Pro, does not support WEP or WPAv1. They ripped that out due to vulnerabilities. I could connect via WPA2 and WPA3 personal, but not Enterprise (with RADIUS).

With the 803 patch, I can now connect just fine to WPA2-Enterprise and WPA3-enterprise.

Do you need some specifics? I can provide those.

@vincent (iodé lead dev) has just posted a new beta that has re-worked a lot of the wifi stack, see this post: Can't access my home wifi with my new Brax! - #192 by vincent

Please give feedback there.

The 20250803 beta from yesterday has been published to stable, so no need to install the “beta Updater app”, you should find the update available in the normal version of the “Updater app” after refreshing.

Sadly, a few users still report connection issues with WPA2. Please keep us updated after you try the new release (I am closely monitoring both threads).

Is this on the newest 20250803 image just released yesterday? You would have to get it by either finding another wifi, using another device as a hotspot, or manually applying the update by downloading to computer then transferring to the phone and clicking “local update” to install.

@rik I noticed you had suggested a couple of users try WEP. You might suggest they check/ENABLE WEP on the BraX3 when doing that, it’s disabled in the settings by default.

Settings - Network and Internet - Internet - Network Preferences - “Allow WEP networks”

Thanks, I must have enabled myself. But it really is so insecure I am hoping that advice won’t be needed :slight_smile: (but yes, we are still seeing some users report WPA2 connection issues :frowning: )

Thank you for the quick response. I manually downloaded the file and transferred it to the phone, but what directory does that file need to be in for the updater to find it locally?

Apologies if I am missing something obvious.

When you choose 3 dots > Local update it will prompt with with the file browser to select the update file.

@GromPilot @Greenie @RogerZ @wardee @bejinxed @3n1gma @colinrk @triplef @whatever @TheBeeg

Not certain if you are too discouraged and have stopped tinkering on this :slightly_frowning_face: , have just been too busy to try yet :watch: , or maybe it has “just worked” :smiley: ?

When able please give a try to the newest 20250803 update and report back. We do have a few users that still report issues but it is important to get some broader feedback for the developers.

Thanks

I downloaded the new update and the wifi does not connect to my new Brax. Thanks.

I ran the update and rebooted. It still doesn’t authenticate to the ddwrt AP with WPA/WPA2. It connects to other things though ie AP w/ encryption off, an iphone hostspot and a linux desktop hotspot.
I can get a shell on the AP but I haven’t been able to find any error logging of the wifi, still digging.
If you can point me to info on getting more verbose output on the droid side, I’ll try it.

I downloaded the Aug 3 update and restarted both our phones and the wifi still doesn’t work at home (at the hotel yes).

Actiontec Model T2200H, iode 6.6 (Aug 3), and phone says 2.5 GHz, Security is WPA/WPA2/WPA3-personal

@rik

Copied latest version (6.6-20250803) to my Brax3, updated it, but it still dos not connect to my local WiFi. That said the phone interface is more informative when trying to connect. It shows “Scanning / Authenticating”, but does not connect. Previously it did not show those messages. I also now see the WiFi symbol at the top of the screen, but no connection. The WiFi symbol was not visible in previous version.

OK thanks everyone, I am checking on if any extra logs are needed by Vincent (lead dev), who is actively working on this. The recent build (that is still not succeeding) had a heavy re-working of the wifi stack, but obviously there are still some issues he is working on.

I updated via an ethernet connection and tested connecting again. I wasn’t able to connect to our wifi. One thing is improved, the error sound and message doesn’t appear at top of screen. However, the network sill shows “Saved / Check password and try again.” I did forget the network before trying the connection again. Thanks for your work on this!

You note WPA3, are you able to try WPA3 only? There is a possibility that may work if you can try to change that on your router.
