My home MikroTik Router/Switch CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN will not connect unless security is disabled.

At work the NETGEAR AX1800 WiFi 6 Router, 1.8Gbps (RAX10) works without any issues.
It is using WPA2.

I’ve downloaded the 6v2.apk Beta, on top of Aug/03 6.6, and will try it when I get home tonight.

The beta .apk will only then reveal the actual 2025-08-11 beta build, so if you can then make sure you get this installed with working wifi before heading home!

By the way, I have a few MikroTik devices that “just work” such as a MikroTik RouterBOARD 962UiGS-5HacT2HnT that I just tested. But I’ve flashed all of these with OpenWRT. I will dig around or maybe even reflash one back to stock firmware to check when I get a chance.

Newest beta build 2025-08-11 or latest stable build 2025-08-03?

Hi. I don’t see my router on the list. Not sure how to find WPA settings on it. Could a Beta tester or someone check this one, please?

AT&T U-Verse Pace router,
Model: 503INV-30 (in small text to the side FXN)
SERIAL#: 36141N018923
PN: 4201-001154-000
Authentication type:
DEFAULT: WPA-PSK (TKIP)WPA2-PSK(AES)
OTHER OPTIONS: WEP-OPEN, WEP-SHARED, WPA2-PSK(AES).
CHANNEL BANDWITH: 20MHZ
2.4 GHZ WIFI RADIO CONFIGURATION
USING IPV6

I just hooked up my new router that was on the list and can also confirm that it works.

I pulled out an old router (Asus RT-N12), flashed the last available firmware, and couldn’t connect with WPA2 personal.

I think our best bet statistically speaking at this time are going to be newer equipment, but thank you for reporting this.

After I noticed the “4-Way authentication Failed” error I checked the 4 EAPOL Authentication message frames,

it seems that the problematic routers stop to respond after Message 2 which is from the device trying to connect,

there is also no frame with an error flag though I can’t verify that the calculation and validation of the keys are correct because some temporal values are used each time,

also the phone sends a flag that it isn’t capable of Management Frame Protection which would start after the “4-Way Authentication” but it doesn’t seem to play any role, some routers let you change this setting so you would expect that plays a role and rejects the phone if the router is configured to require MFP but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

I just tested a DD-WRT router that is confirmed to fail with Wi-Fi over WPA and WPA2, but on the guest network with a captive portal (with WPA2 personal enabled) I am able to connect to Wi-Fi as long as I go through the captive portal first.

This is with a Linksys I reported earlier.

Thank you for the info. Got the new 2025-08-11 beta installed at work.
Alas it did not fix the problem with the MikroTik when I got home.
Still same bad password error.

It seems only my MikroTik that I re-flashed with OpenWRT succeed (all other MikroTik reports are failing). I may try to re-flash my spare/testing MikroTik with stock firmware to confirm the connection problem, as until now I have NOT been able to find a device that has connection issues

FWIW- I have two ASUS routers in operation. Both are in the list of ASUS “no access” routers… RT-AC66U & RT-AC5300, and as reported they both have the “password” problem.

Here’s the twist. On on the RT-AC66U router, there is a simple remote wall plug-in type repeater/extender made by NetGear which is wirelessly connected to it. The Brax3 WILL connect to the Net Gear Repeater (WPA) and provide access to the internet, through the RT-AC66U router, which refuses a connection directly. And where does the AC-66U get it’s feed? From the RT-AC5330 via a large switch. Seems the dime store NetGear product will accept what the ASUS products will not. That really doesn’t instill confidence that the NetGear product is really all that secure.

Not sure if this provides any help at all, and may serve to distract from the issue.

Using a Pixel 4 with iodé 6.6 on it, in hotspot mode, using WPA2, Brax3 will not connect. Password validation fails

Also, the Netgear repeater has a 5GHz and a 2.4 GHz output. The 2.4 radio will accept a password and connect. The 5ghz radio connects but reports “No internet access”.

OK this matches what another person (Pixel 4a) reported. Also I think there was a Moto G7 (?) back in the list that also failed to work as a hotspot. Those are surprising. Let me try my old reliable Pixel 3a as a hotspot and report back.

Hey hey! @guardian241 wins the prize for helping me find a wifi I can’t connect to  Confirmed that the brax3 fails to connect to a Pixel 3a XL with iodé 6.6 wifi hotspot. Let me see if I can pass this back to the devs, it may increase the number of easily testable devices they have access to that don’t work

Tried changing to WPA2/WPA3 from straight WPA2 on the Pixel and the pixel would hang trying to reset the hotspot. I’ll try the hotspot on my Galaxy S20 tonight if I get time.
From what I’m seeing is that it’s older security that it’s having the issue with? Something with straight WPA or WPA2 as opposed to WPA2/3?
