Open Camera v1.52-iode.12 has recently stopped working properly. When attempting to record a video an error message states “Server died, video halted” and no recording occurs. A 0 second, blank video is then saved.
This was also reported by Jezar1 who experienced the error in the iode tweaked version as well as the vanilla version of Open Camera available in the F-droid store. Camera Apps for Brax3 - #21 by Jezar1
A restart of Brax3 did not resolve the error.
Resetting the app settings did nothing.
F-Droid states 6/29/24 as the latest update for Open Camera v1.52-iode.12 and 9/1/25 for vanilla Open Camera. This shows that no update of Open Camera itself caused the error.
I updated another device with Open Camera and it functions as intended.
Other apps such as “Camera” that was shipped with Brax3 and Fossify Camera Beta can record video on the Brax3 without issue.
My suspicion is that this error is an unintended consequence of a change made in the recent update to iodeOS 6.9.
Can anyone confirm if video recording with Open Camera is currently functional on a Brax3 updated to iodeOS 6.9? Positive and negative reports would be appreciated.
