Origin is Ontario Canada with Freedom Mobile. In Ontario voice and data work great! Physical SIM used transferred from old iOS device I used mainly as a hotspot for Garmin GPS device.
When crossing the border into the States it is picked up by AT&T and data still works great but voice calls become an impossibility.
Reading through the Compatible Carriers - United States post it seems as though AT&T doesn’t really work well as a third party but T-Mobile does. Is there any way to prioritise who picks up the braX3 when travelling/roaming?
If AT&T wants to blacklist behaviour a device why would it pick it up in the first place? Ideally, I will put my normies in a Faraday bag and only break them out on occasion. For now i’m keeping both running all the time during the day.
Any other travellers with this type of roaming issue?
Thanks so much for letting me know the option to choose! However, I was working with it this morning and AT&T was the only option to choose from as nothing else appeared.
I called Freedom to find out if they had some exclusive deal with att and they said not at all and that T-Mobile should show up while roaming in the USA.
Also, I found when disabling automatic selection, I have to select Freedom manually now when entering Canada.
I will keep working with it and report if I can get T-Mobile to appear. If there are any other settings I should look at please let me know, but I know you guys are super swamped right now. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback.
It’s possible that T-mobile doesn’t have coverage in the area you’ve been.
TMO claim they have 99% coverage. Might be the same as “kills 99% of germs”…
