Different error message if set to prefer wifi as opposed to only wifi. The dialer doesn’t know it’s on a wifi network
Yep, seen that one too!
OK I think we are now all on the same page, meaning I don’t know that anyone is able to get this to work, right?
I do have the issue logged, but no update to provide ![]()
You can add me to the list of requiring WiFi Calling since our home has a very very weak cell signal. I use AT&T as a provider. Our Samsung Android phone and iPhones work perfectly with WiFi Calling but the Brax3 IODE does not work. Please get it working!
On Tuesday I drove through a part of West Central Texas that had 1 bar of cell service for about 45 minutes, at 50 miles per hour. If I had wifi I could have made a phone call in that area. So, seriously, this is an issue. There are many miles of land in the USA that have no cell coverage. This is a privacy phone, for people who want to be private, and in order to make phone calls, we have to be in an area with cell tower service.
Just to flag on this thread that i have the exact same issues, here in the UK. Wifi calling inbound fine, outbound doesnt work. To pay this much money for a functionally useless phone is disappointing to say the least…
Hi Community! Just did the latest update to IODE 6.7 on Brax3. No change on the WiFi calling issue. Still not working. Either outbound nor inbound.
Video calling not possible as well.
Please put these problems in a more prominent spot.
Thank’s for all the great work so far.
I second this issue. I was hoping the update today would have made an impact. THIS needs to be addressed. This is standard functionality across the board.
Thank you!!
WiFi calling works for me but others voices fade out about every 5 seconds, briefly but you will miss a word or 2. I had to disable it.
Did this ever get resolved. I"ve just got my phone 10 months after ordering, only to find i cant even make phone calls (over wifi, at home which has no cell service).
Dialler just ends the call. Same as the other reports
I know this has been reported to iode devs earlier, but I didn’t see an issue on their issue tracking board. I just created it: WiFi calling not working (#47) · Issues · ota / issue-tracker · GitLab
I will ping their devs again and get an update on the progress done with this as I score it as a major bug.
I have this issue logged for a while now with a bit more detail, and referenced in a reply above from Aug 13. Here it is again:
There hasn’t been any progress that I know of, but to re-clarify the issue appears to be a LineageOS-wide issue. Using LunarOS works for VoWifi on the Brax3, for example.
T-Mo SIM. $15 plan. Located up in Canada. Samsung S24 and iPhones can call over WiFi with same SIM. Without WiFi calling shows Emergency calls only, with WiFi calling shows random carrier like Rogers, Bell, Telus or Freedom and can call US number and receive calls no problem.
BraX3 cannot call. Configured everything properly. Roaming is enabled.
Network & Internet → SIMs → T-Mobile → Choose Network, all carriers are listed with (forbidden) suffix.
When I click on any such carrier, it says Could not connect, then shows No Service Selected network (carrier) unavailable. WiFi service works fine with both home routers, it is just WiFi calling does not work. Other than that the phone is great.
Its certainly an annoying set up. I doubt itll get fixed, nothing else has. I want to swap OS to something that works - i dont have cell service at home so the phone is useless to me in the current state. Theres enough annoying bugs in iode that i just want it gone.
We think we can simply replace our Androids or iPhones with the new privacy device that has no problems to begin with. And then we start using and discover this and that. We find some small issues, do not know when or whether those issues are going to be fixed. And those small issues completely prevent us from even using BraX3. With sadness we put the new phone away and hope it will get updates and miraculously start working as expected, I hope it will. And only then I will start fully using BraX3, but for now I have no choice other than continue using my good ol’ S24.
Maybe BraX3 phone is looking good on paper but, unfortunately, in many cases it cannot do what most of phones can. What’s interesting, it is not new sophisticated features that people find broken, but it is rather simple phone functions that obviously and assumably should work.
Yeah, i’m happy to forgo seemless operation and fancy stuff. It cant be expected from a new, relatively cheap phone. But not being able to make wifi calls is a major issue on a ‘privacy’ phone. Not being able to connect to
large numbers of routers, or apps that just freeze etc is pretty basic stuff.
I think the Brax isn’t the problem; it is the IODE OS, they (IODE) needed to do more testing from their side. The Brax works flawlessly in all other circumstances. I am still waiting for an update from the IODE team. Plamen even put another ticket in as it has been three months since this was reported with NO traction. I live in an area where WiFi is the only option and I have been without for three months. I think the IODE team needs to address this - as only more people are having the same issue. They have admitted to another OS working with WiFi calling. This by far is the best smart phone I have had. Thank you for posting as it shows there is more than one person with the WiFi calling.
If IODE could just fix the problem.
I’m closing this topic and moving the discussion here: iodeOS wifi connection issues
This is not a WiFi issue though, the WiFi works fine. It is only when using WiFi calling, which is completely different. I do not think this should be lumped in with WiFi users as the WiFi itself for browsing and everything else is fine.
