Can't access my home wifi with my new Brax!

A beta OTA has been released, which fixes WPA2 in at least one situation. Waiting for feedback, once again…

Fingers crossed for progress!

I installed iodéOS 6.6-20250811-brax3 but I’m still not able to connect to my SFR Box using WPA2 personal.

WPA (1) connection issues that I had 2 different APs are now gone. Before they connected with WPA2 however, but the WPA (1) issues were the only I was able to create.

I downloaded and installed the latest OTA version from Aug 11th. We got a new router too yesterday {WPA2-personal AES only, no WPA3).

We were told by the ISP that WPA3 is not possible unless we upgrade our service so we’d pay a lot more and have to get a second new router.

Another suggestion is to buy a WiFi booster that is WPA3 capable (so another expense).

The thing is:

(1) our phones work fine on WiFi almost everywhere else using WPA2 security.

(2) buying a booster wouldn’t guarantee service and we don’t need it otherwise, it’s only to rule out the security issue causing a password authentication problem.

What to do? We love our Brax3 phones so are willing to wait for another fix. In the mean time we have upgraded our data plans so we don’t run out.

Looking forward to hearing if the update is helping others.

To confirm, the 2025-08-11 update did not fix anything? :frowning:

If you aren’t concerned with immediate neighbors attempting to get on your network, you can switch your old router to WEP mode (this is an old authentication protocol which allows you to set a basic password, but is not “secure” by today’s standards).

Then when new OTA updates are made available, you can download and install them on WEP, then after installed you can switch your router back to WPA2 and see if it can connect. If not, back to WEP until the next update.

I would see if you could get a refund for the new router.

Update: or see if you can enable a “Guest network” on your router which would not require a password, but would also prevent users of that network from seeing other devices on your more secure network. That is probably the best option: your neighbors will then more easily connect to the network through your router, but they won’t be truly “inside your LAN”

I turned on my guest network with no security and checked for the update. No new update listed. I’ll check again in a few minutes.

same issue here no updates listed

Thank you @rik If I buy a new router what type do you recommend so I can access wifi?

Be sure to refresh the page (click on circular arrow at top) and you should see the update. The update did not solve my WiFi password authentication issue, but maybe it will be different for you?

@Nefer we got a new router (WPA2 security), it was suggested we get one that is WPA3 capable, but that may or may not solve the problem, and that security protocol is harder to find.

You might try a booster device that’s WPA3 capable rather than paying for a new router. My ISP suggested, but could be wrong.

@MikeL5280 @Nefer Do you have the beta updater installed?

To install it, the beta updater is required, which can be installed from here: beta/UpdaterBetaIode6v2.apk · master · ota / ota · GitLab

If you then refresh in the Updater app, you should see a 2025-08-11 build available for download.

That beta updater can be uninstalled at any time to come back to the stable channel: long press the Updater app, select App info, then click the “3 dots” and choose Uninstall updates.

I installed the beta updater it but still no new updates listed.

Rik, thank you. I do not have the beta updater installed. Is the beta/UpdaterBeta… line a URL, HDD path, or Linux terminal command? “… which can be installed from here:” I’m sorry that I need you to spell it out for me.

And by the way, an untested update doesn’t bother me as I can uninstall it later if needed.

Nefer, you just said there were no updates listed to install. Are you mixing up the update with the updater? Just asking.

You may need to restart the Updater app after that. Long press Updater from app menu, select App info, then click Force stop. Then start it again. The Updater app will then show iodéOS beta at the top. If no update shown, pull down to refresh.

The link I post is where you download the .apk (getting the version listed, the 6v2 version). Then when you tap the downloaded .apk file you will be asked to install (first accepting that you are allowing installs like this to occur).

So there is no WEP, the only other option is “WPA- personal” which doesnt work either so i switched back to WPA2-personal.

The router is a rental that comes with internet service and is replacing a 9 year old router, so there us nothing to return.

Edit: the guest network is WPA2-personal and there is no option to change it at all.

Oh, it’s a link, duh. I’m looking at this forum on my Linux pc, while trying connection things on my Brax3. Would it be easier to transfer the link to my phone or use my phone to read the forum and access the link? I would allow it to install. How do I get it to ask?

See if there is an “Advanced tab” that gives more wireless network options? That may also be where a possible Guest Network option exists. You can DM me screenshots of the router settings pages if you want me to look a bit closer.
