Can't access my home wifi with my new Brax!

Please start a new thread on this, likely it is APN setup, but save it for another topic

Adding the R6900 to the list, several other Netgear are sadly also not working.

Did you enable mobile data after inserting the SIM?
Settings>Network & Internet > SIMs

Another one for the not working pile:
ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version: 3.0.0.4.386_51733

Saw this in the logs when trying to connect to wifi. Hid my MAC address:

Aug 19 15:53:21 syslog: wlceventd_proc_event(530): eth2: Auth <hw_addr>, status: Successful (0), rssi:0
Aug 19 15:53:21 syslog: wlceventd_proc_event(559): eth2: Assoc <hw_addr>, status: Successful (0), rssi:0
Aug 19 15:53:21 syslog: wlceventd_proc_event(494): eth2: Deauth_ind <hw_addr>, status: 0, reason: Deauthenticated because sending station is leaving (or has left) IBSS or ESS (3), rssi:-44

Yup, already on the list (with JRS Eco firmware, but now added with stock as well).

If you are on adb to get those logs, can you report the results of uname -a? Thanks!

(betting it is Linux kernel 4.9 or earlier)

EDIT: my working TP-Link EAP245 Access Point that works has an old crusty kernel of 3.3.8. Would be informative to further narrow down the kernel range of non-working devices (so for example, “newer than 3.15 older than 4.10”).

EDIT 2: my firewalla purple (working) has a kernel version of 4.9.241-firewalla. so this is maybe a bit of a red herring to change kernel version only, vendors can patch it and I am not going to trawl through all their commits (if at all available). Oh well.

I’m not using adb. I used the System Log tab of the router UI.

I use tplink A20 and can only connect to WiFi if there is no password. Just adding my 2 cents worth here, hope it helps. Am on iodeOs 6.6 latest update

I replied to your new topic with some stopgap suggestions, but please submit more detailed info on the router(s) you can’t connect to for our chart: Brax3 wifi connection issues chart

Are the developers still working night and day on this problem, or has a solution been found yet?

Yes they are. They pushed a beta update yesterday but it didn’t fully fix the problem

Is there another thread we need to watch to find out about these updates and whether they fix the problem for people? I haven’t started downloading updates to try yet because I don’t feel like transferring my sim back and forth until people report it working. Therefore I’m not watching for updates in the app, but I’d still like to know what’s happening. If RogerZ hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t have even known. If there’s not another thread, can these beta releases be announced here?

I don’t think “night and day” is a good descriptor, but it is a very high priority. Note that the recent beta @guardian241 mentions doesn’t have any specific attempted fixes for the brax3 wifi issue unfortunately. It does include security updates and general fixes (apps, OS, etc.)

I have been traveling for 10 days mostly “off grid” so am yet to get feedback from the team on any wifi authentication issue progress in the past few weeks.

Pardon me if this has been answered elsewhere but if I skipped an update would it matter? In other words, if I just installed the last update, does it include all the changes in the previous updates?

@rik Any updates? Can you please tell us how close the developers are to having a solution for us? We’re over a month into this problem. I don’t think it’s fair to the buyers of this phone to be left hanging with very minimal progress updates. I really think the Iode and/or Brax teams need to do a better job of handling this mess.

Just updated to the latest software on my Brax3 phone running iode OS.
Still not able to connect to wifi.
I do hope a solution will come very soon.
So far I’m not so happy with the entire purchase of a brax3 phone. I hope something happens that can cheer me up and put me in a good mood in regards to this purchase.
All the best to the people working on resolving these issues.

Fellow Brax3 buyer here (and satisfied despite a few hiccups). I understand getting a privacy phone and setting it up can be a bit frustrating. We are all finding our way, and sometimes it’s not easy, but in the end we have to remember WHY were are doing it. Keep persevering, eventually you’ll get your issues dealt with.

What is it beside the wifi problem that you do not like about the phone?

Well that is exactly it. I get it that a new product have teething problem so to say and things must be adjusted along the way. The fact that there isn’t a big tech company involved is also something which triggers my empathy in regards to the speed with which things are being addressed. However, and I do feel the need to state this, for something as ordinary as a wifi to not function properly on a smartphone out the box is, in my humble opinion, a rookie mistake which ought not to have happened. The issue not being resolved within 6 weeks since first appearing in this thread as an issue, is quite frustrating to put it mildly.
