@Steve577 the factory reset will restore the settings on the phone to default, clear all the network config, etc. I haven’t had to do one but I presume it’ll just roll back to a clean copy of your current version (e.g. 7.1) or the latest major version prior to that (so 7.0 if you have 7.1 installed).
But if it instead reverts to an older version of iodé, or the version it originally shipped with (e.g. 6.3 or 6.6) the updates will just all show in the updater shortly after in little bit to get you back up to the newest version (possibly consolidated so you only have to do 1-2 updates); and you can just reinstall them through there. (Note though if it does go back to 6.x you’ll probably need to do an update to 6.9 then do the manual patch to update to 7.0 then carry on as normal to update to 7.1…).
Wait for the 7.2 and after that do also a factory reset if it still doesn’t work. If it persists talk to Plamen for further action.
Mycenius / George,
I just completed the factory reset and SADLY the problem still exists. I’ll take Plamen’s suggestion of exchanging for replacement since this procedure was performed and still proves failure. I received this Brax3 on August 8, 2025. Kindly advise the steps to start the exchange procedure. Thank you for the support getting to this determination.
7.2 should be coming soon. I hope that it’s not some carrier related incompatibility.
Inconsistent Inbound calling and texting problem just started on Friday 1/23/26. My carrier is T-Mobile. I’m in Southern California just like Rob. The “frozen screen” issue goes back from time of arrival in August, 2025.
So 7.2 is a potential fix, I don’t think the hardware just failed, freezing and reboot occurs to many users on 7.x
Bugger! (again)
Yeah definitely contact [email protected] for a replacement - make sure you link to this thread and especially @plamen’s post about replacement. This will show you have done due diligence and troubleshooting and speed up response.
Yes, I did submit request for replacement with supporting dialog. Thank you for your assistance.
The 7.2 is available, try an update.
I hope this 7.2 is the magic bullet that works to eliminate the dreadful laboring hassle for the exchange.
George, I regret to inform you that after installing the 7.2 update nothing has changed. Do you blame me for requesting an exchange? These headaches have been a major distraction and interruption in my daily living. Please understand.
Try to get a LogCat debugging to search for errors. You can connect the phone to the computer through cable or Bluetooth and wait to catch errors related to messages.
The only error code seen on the Brax3 was “code 1” when an outgoing text message reports, “text msg was not sent,” “ touch” - to resend. It would take as many as 6-7 tries to finally send, showing a “check mark “symbol below the text.. I forgot to mention this earlier. This was occurring frequently in last couple of months. The other frustrating problems Didn’t report anything on the screen.
What do you mean? wait to catch errors related to messages? You’re talking Greek, “get a LogCat debugging to search for errors”. I’m a user - “non-techie”, NOT a programmer or developer.
You may need to install the adb-tools or android-tools depending on the operating system you are working on.
First Settings > About phone , and you tap quickly several times on the build number to activate the developer mode.
Then Settings > System > Developer options and you activate the USB debugging.
Connect the phone to the computer and acknowledge on Brax.
Open a terminal and give
adb devices
You should see the phone and “activated” or something similar.
Then give,
adb logcat | tee logfile
The logging information will both appear on the screen and be saved in a file called “logfile”
Then try to send and receive messages and after you finish hit CTRL+C to exit.
Send this file to Plamen so that we can check where is the problem exactly.
George, You’re pushing me to do things beyond my technical ability. Presently, I have NO available time to even try. I don’t have the luxury of time. Not by choice I’m using my Android phone that works. Sorry, I have a job and busy schedule with everyday life.
Brax needs a feature to easily upload these reports and not rely on manual step for the user to toil with especially the technically challenged users.
Android is very restrictive for security reasons, probably this can’t be done in a different way without connecting to a computer and acknowledging each step manually.
leaving for work. have a good day.
