After seeing the details of how DHL was created and how the government tried to cripple their business by holding shipments and disrupt the business…it makes me wonder if these phones are being held in customs for so long simply to pressure customers into getting upset and requesting refunds just to limit the proliferation of privacy respecting devices.
Beyond that you will need to contact Brax directly for more detail.
Regarding trusting that the installed system has not being tampered with, I am not an expert but can make a few comments: iodéOS as a policy does not allow adb root to devices due to not building userdebug builds. Many that prefer to make a full backup of their data complain about this but it is for security reasons isn’t enabled.
In addition, since the bootloader is locked and the builds are signed, you will be notified / boot will not proceed if this is not satisfied.
Here is a bit more from our documentation:
Unfortunately, what a plausible scenario. I wish they weren’t so petty, but then again I wake up in the morning and find new spy apps downloaded on my phone without my knowledge. Google Chrome turns off my browser extensions while I watch YouTube videos in real time. Once our phones come thru I’m unplugging from the matrix.
So many of us are noticing the same things. Even older people I know are waking up to this and noticing ads for things they “just talked about”, etc. and it is waking some of them up to the need for privacy. We all have to keep sharing the truth with everyone who is receptive and also share the solutions we have found (Brax3, etc.). The needle is being moved. People are waking up and there is a growing privacy centered market. This is why I believe customs is delaying our shipments in the US.
Excellent! Thanks for sharing this. To your root comment. Is there a method to root these devices just for backup and then unroot them for normal use? I am one of those who would like temporary root for device backups.
I haven’t received mine
No, no one has yet. They have not yet been released by customs.
Thank you very much for the update! So, it sounds like you are confident they will be cleared by US customs this week. If someone at Brax could proactively provide weekly customs/shipping updates, I am confident that would ease a lot of tension. Thanks again!
I have rooted with magisk bits in order to test Android Auto which was previously not working on iodéOS 6.x / Android 15.x (but fixes have since been applied so no need for root for AA).
I can’t comment on if this then allowed adb root or not, sorry I forgot to check and have since re-flashed the test devices I was experimenting with root on.
Got mine yesterday! 7/31. I spent some time getting acquainted with the OS (I’m a noob to Android) and ran the iode updater. Only issue is getting WPA/WPA2 working. The FM tuner was a cool Easter-egg to find. Be patient folks, Brax isn’t a trillion dollar company with a team of PhD’s engineering the logistics (yet).
Can you confirm your router model? Attempting to consolidate a chart of wifi connection issues here.
I don’t think state-level actors really need to tamper with devices directly now that companies like NSO group have off-the-shelf OTA tools that get them into probably every phone OS there is. Additionally, through MITM decryption and storage of traffic at the infrastructure level, they can get all the goods they want pretty cheaply without having to individually compromise container ships full of phones one-by-one. The tampering that should worry us would most likely happen in the development of closed-source driver blobs.
I just received mine!!
But Havent unboxed is. I don’t know what to do with it. Is there a how to get started video out there somewhere?
Not yet… but setting it up is pretty easy.
Rob will have a video soon…
If you don’t know what to do with it, send it to me. I could use one more.![]()
Update: I have received mine! I ordered two of them. I can’t get either of them to connect to my home wi-fi! It is very frustrating. Other than that, I have enjoyed to user interface.
I can connect to my home Wi-Fi, a Deco mesh router, and my iPhone hotspot, but having trouble connecting to other Wi-Fi networks, and I don’t know what the problem is since I’m fairly unfamiliar with android operation
This is a known issue being worked on. Details here - Can't access my home wifi with my new Brax!
Update: I was able to connect to a different Wi-Fi network, so there must be a setting on my home wireless router that won’t allow access to the Brax3 phone. bummer!
LOL! I saw Rob’s Video. opened up and followed along. LOVE IT!!
