iodéOS 6.9 Release Notes

Hi community.

iodéOS 6.9 is now available for BraX3 devices.

See below the release notes:

  • Auto-reboot timeout: the device can automatically reboot after a configurable period without any user activity. This puts the phone in a more secure state where user data is not decrypted (Settings → Security & Privacy → More security & privacy).
  • Quick settings can now be disabled globally from the lock screen. This option extends an existing one that only affects quick settings considered sensitive (airplane mode, wifi, bluetooth…).
  • Secondary users can now be fully logged out, instead of simply being switched to a different profile.
  • Private space and work profiles are now available for secondary users: apps such as Shelter can be used in secondary users.
  • App links can now be automatically validated by the apps themselves. App links are URLs that can trigger the opening of an app instead of the browser, if these links are authorized by that app (in App infos → Open by default). Some apps attempt to validate these links in order to manage them instead of the browser, which was previously blocked by the system until the links were manually allowed by the user.
  • Blocker: a bug related to the widget has been fixed, which could cause the network to freeze. The workaround was to open the iodé app, which immediately unblocked the network.
  • Aurora Store: handling unattended upgrades for apps installed by Aurora Store has been improved in the system. In addition, the confirmation pop-up allowing the installation of apps has been removed: once one or more app installations have been launched, they will be completed without any confirmation from the user, even if Aurora Store is closed. These improvements are only available for the official version of Aurora Store (from gitlab) embedded into iodéOS.
  • iodé Browser: the onboarding process has been simplified and the icon is now vectorized, which improves its display, especially when launching the app.
  • Wi-Fi calling has been fixed. For this to work, it is necessary to reset the mobile network settings (Settings → System → Reset options → Reset Mobile Network Settings). In addition, the delay before sound start-up that was sometimes occurring when booting the device has been fixed.
  • LineageOS synchronized with October security patch.
  • Block lists updated.
  • Apps updated.

Settings > System has no entry for “System Updates”. So how to update? In Robs video It shows "System Upddate " on this setting page.

It appears other settings people mention in these forums are not on My Brax3. That makes no sense to me currently im on Ioede OS 6.3-20250526-brax3.
How do I update? trying to cure wifi issues

On your homescreen, open the Settings group, and then click on Updater.
You should then be able to see the latest OS version available.

so to get this correct.. to be able to connect with wifi finally.. i first have to update it to the latest os version.. then it works ?

There is no “updater” directly under “settings” as you say or in android 15 generally. If i search “update” in settings then it shows “system Update” in search results, clicking the search result takes me to “settings > system” but update of any kind is not there. I am well versed in android …it is not there.?..

“system Update” cleary shows in Robs Video on the “settings>system” page. But it is not there on this brax 3 phone. I dont understand how thats possible?

That’s because it’s not there @J1mB0b . See this post for where to find it (I included screen shots), and if it’s missing where to check you have not unintentionally uninstalled it (further down the thread):

@annieie :

No. The update primarily updates wi-fi calling, that’s completely different from wi-fi connectivity. You need the latter to do the former, but the former has nothing to do with the latter. However the update might help you if your issue is not due to one of the known routers that won’t connect - as it may indirectly resolve something…

You should normally update to the newest version regularly - or at least once it’s confirmed it doesn’t break anything - as it will have multiple improvements and fixes.

For the wi-fi connectivity issue you need to follow this thread, and if you haven’t already, try some of the suggested workarounds or fixes. Have you verified your home router is one of the affected models/brands that are known to have a connectivity issue with the Brax3?

Thanks for the help @Mycenius but where is the post and the screenshots?
I have iode news app but no “updater” app. How do I get the updater app

Here - as per my previous post:

thanks. This forum isnt so linky on mobile browser for me. on desktop now.

I did not have a group for settings on my phone. I had only one group with fdroid and Arora store in and thats all. settings just an icon by itself. That’s why I was confused when @plamen mentioned “settings Group”.

Found and Installed thanks

And NOW. “System Update” DOES show in the “Settings > System” menu as expected.

Not sure why Rob did not mention any of this in his video on starting the Brax 3

HI @annieie - sorry to hear how you feel and understand your frustration with the wi-fi issue and such. It’s annoying to have the delivery delays and then a technical issue that impacts an important aspect of the device’s operation.

…but with all due respect your comment I quoted above is IMO unreasonable and unrealistic; and not what you should have been expecting if you seriously want to regain control over your information, and achieve some level of privacy and minimise the tracking of everything you do… That takes effort; and invariably means you need to be willing to learn what’s needed to do that…

Majority of these types of products (such as degoogled and privacy phones) are relatively new, done by enthusiasts and start-ups, or very small devoted organisations, and are constantly battling the big tech moves to undermine and block their use - they are not multi-billion dollar corporates like Apple, Google or Sony, or similar… Expectations need to be realistic, and appreciation of what is managed to be achieved acknowledged. The ones that have been around for a while have taken a lot of effort to get to where they are, over a reasonable period of time, and with very little money behind them…

The way to make life easier and not more complicated as you describe is to just go with the flow, have all the big tech and mega-corporates (and also increasingly governments) know every little thing about you , track your every move, and be able to predict what you think and will do before you even do it. …thereby sacrificing both your privacy and ultimately your free will because they can so easily influence you and feed you what information they know will manipulate you (not to mention probably accumulating enough data to actually perfectly impersonate you and no one could tell)…

And then of course, to cap it all off, they will also make a heap of money out of you by selling all that personal and sensitive information on every aspect of your life to every man and his dog, including some pretty unsavoury organisations. That is what making life easier and less complicated involves.

And please note this isn’t anything personal - others have said similar before you, so I am speaking generally and in response to them as much as your comment above - but what are people thinking, that these organisations are going to make it easy for you to escape their clutches? Or that this is like buying an iPhone and everything just “works”… Well people can have that, but you can’t also have privacy and not be tracked, etc…

Remember one of these corporates (either Google, Meta or Microsoft IIRC) successfully argued to a government committee (in US or EU (that was concerned about people’s information being misused), quite sometime ago, that their business could not survive financially if it wasn’t allowed to collect unlimited information of any type about people (anybody) and then on sell that to other companies…

A new fix is being developed for the WiFi calling, which will allow it to work when offline (granted that a connection was previously established, even briefly). The new build will be pushed to beta shortly, and soon after as a hot fix to all.

You update through the Updater app. Most easily accessible via your homescreen, Settings app group (above camera app), Updater.
Another way is through your OS settings > System > System updates.

when you unlock the phone you should see the home screen. you should see an icon that reads Settings when you click on that icon it then opens the folder where you will see two icons one that reads Settings and the Other icon reads Updater click on that icon then it should show you the updates that are available.

A new hotfix for 6.9 is pushed today to the beta channel.
It includes a fix for the wifi wpa2 issues.

I downloaded the 6.9.20251116 update and It fixed my WiFi issue, YAY! But after the update I could no longer send and receive MMS, and also can no longer share contacts from my old phone.

Since I was sending MMS over mobile successfully, I disabled the wifi to see if it was a problem with my ISP. I couldn’t send MMS over mobile either, so it’s something in the update.

Did you reset network carrier settings as part of updating? I did, and couldn’t use WiFi calling / sporadic MMS etc because the APN I needed had to be manually entered, and a reset deleted it.

I’m no tech head, but you could try aeroplane mode and sim toggled off for 30 sec and and then turn back on and see if the correct APN is selected by your network?
