ASUS RT-AC5300 Router -
Build 6.6 2025-08-03
“Check Password and try again” failure
Updated with no luck.
At home I have various Unifi APs, currently with a Unifi UCG-Max gateway, all latest firmware and it works great.
At work there are also Unifi APs, and the gateway is Cisco, but dhcp server shows up as windows IIS. So, who knows what kind of connection policies are on that.
I’m assuming you’re using WPA-Personal, not enterprise. Are you using WPA3-PSK or WPA2-PSK?
I wish I knew. I’ll have to update that part when I run into support. I was trying to figure out how to tell on my iphone connection, but those details look minimal.
TP-Link Deco X55 Pro AX3000
works with brax3
Huawei B525s-65a WPA / WPA2:
2.4/5GHz 6.6 2025-08-03 Si1208
Linksys EA6200
iode6.6
no auth to 2.4 or 5ghz
WPA2 mixed. wireless g/n enabled
unauthenticated naturally works fine.
date: 8/8
Out of the box (no updates), failing to connect to Netgear R6400v1 DD-WRT v3.0-r48296 with WPA2 2.4/5.
Netgear Nighhawk X65 AC3600 Model R7960P no go on WPA and WPA2
This works:
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC Version 21H2
Built-in Mobile hotspot
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 adapter
Driver version: 19.51.50.2
Saved network in iodéOS shows “WPA/WPA2-Personal”
This does NOT work:
ASUS RT-AC68P Wireless-AC1900 Router
Firmware Version: 3.0.0.4.386_51733 (ASUS firmware released 2025-03-10)
Broadcom BCM4360 802.11 Wireless Controller 6.37.14.126 (r561982)
Authentication Method: WPA2-Personal
“Check Password and try again” failure in iodéOS
NOTE: Saved network in iodéOS shows “WPA/WPA2/WPA3-Personal” but this router does not support WPA3!
My SWAG: iodéOS MediaTek driver is tripping up over WPA key exchange with router Broadcom driver? (yeah, Capt. Obvious here
)
Note: BraX3 successfully updated from iodéOS version 6.3 to the latest version 6.6-2025-08-03-brax3 via Windows 10 mobile hotspot. However still can’t connect to the ASUS router, even after resetting the phone to factory defaults.
FYI, for Cellular service I’m using US Mobile GSM 5G “Light Speed” (T-Mobile) with a two line pool sharing 2GB data for $18 USD per month. Normally I glom onto Wi-Fi wherever I can and end up using only a few hundred MB each month across both SIMs. Thankfully I did not install a SIM prior to booting up this phone, otherwise I would have blown way past that 2GB cell data limit. So this broken Wi-Fi is an absolute deal breaker for me and I’m sure that most other customers with broken Wi-Fi feel the same…
Brax Technologies needs to pull whatever strings NECESSARY to get this bug resolution prioritized with iodé and MediaTek or they are risking a big black eye to their reputation! This sort of “ship it anyway” situation has absolutely destroyed companies before, and it would be a shame to see that happen to Brax Tech…
Thank for all of this detailed info! I agree, this is a significant issue. Hopefully a resolution that solves the remaining router’s WPA auth issues gets identified ASAP!
