Open_slate MEGATHREAD

Just wondering. What happened to Feb 24. Pre order date

It was moved to March 3rd at 11:30 AM PST

Is Super-early & Early pricing starting on March 3 too? Confused as to how to pre-order.

You’ll see on Indiegogo that day, logically you’ll pre-order with the low prices as with Brax3.

I have a few questions.

  1. Is the USB-C to RJ45 connector 2.5 GB?
  2. Is the Stylus pen magnetic or will it only play nicely with the Keyboard + folio case?
  3. How does Keyboard + folio case attach to the open_slate?
  4. Does the Keyboard + folio case connect via Bluetooth? I see 5 small possible data connecter on the side of open_slate.
  5. What was the verdict on the SIM option:
USB-C SIM add-on card (not included)
M2 SIM add-on card (not included)
or Built in with a sixth physical toggle switch. (included)

Thank you

  1. 1Gbps confirmed at the moment. We are exploring if more can be supported.
  2. We’re yet to finalize this.
  3. Tablet snaps inside the folio.
  4. Keyboard is connected via the pogo pins.
  5. We’re exploring the latter option - built in with physical toggle switch. Not finalized yet.

On the subject of questions, a few of my own:

  1. Where will parts (such as the replaceable battery) be available?
  2. Are cases set for purchase on March 3rd, or are they set for a later date? If it is the latter, will we be able to add these to our pre-orders?
  3. Is shipping still planned for Late into summer? (August?)

can the keyboard be used detached, in bluetooth mode?

Will be available on our store once we start shipping

You will be able to order all accessories as per our current list, starting from 3rd of March. You can add accessories at a later stage. We also may introduce more accessories which can be added to orders.

Yes, correct.

Will need to validate whether it will be possible with the keyboard we offer. But you can surely connect a third party keyboard.

Not a nice or accurate statement. Don’t transfer your motivations to others.

George - what do you mean by “the nightlight?” Is this a feature of the Open_Slate?

It’s a software feature that android has by default and many Linux desktops support. It reduces, or completely removes if you like, blue from all screen content. So there is little reason to have another screen option for this feature.

It’s an Android feature which also exists on Linux, Windows and Apple.

System > Display > Nightlight (under Color group)

This mechanism reduces the intensity of the blue pixel and increases the red one, or in different wording it changes the “colour profile”.

You control the intensity through a “temperature” setting under the logic of “black-body radiation” in physics, high temperature is more blueish and low temperature is more redish.

It is supposed to be activated from sunset through dawn but you can also activate it permanently.

What you are referring to is a backlit electronic paper which as you can see has small refresh rate as the picture is supposed to stay there indefinitely, for a real screen you’ll use the Nightlight

Settings > Display > Nightlight

Those devices are good to carry your books while travelling, they are lightweight and consume little power but they can also work as regular tablets.

What’s the display aspect ratio?

Dimensions are ~248.6 × 179.5 × 9 mm (9.79 × 7.07 × 0.35 in), it should be similar for the screen.

It’s looking awesome. It would be nice if the photos of the machine with various options (cases, keyboards, etc.) would flash by at a slower rate.

Good job you guys!!!

It’s an mp4 video, right click to download it or hold on it to save it as a file.
