launch AA on head unit and follow prompts on head unit and/or phone
If still having issues, try a different cable or follow head unit troubleshooting instructions.
I have successfully done this on multiple Brax3 phones and a pixel running iodéOS
It freaking work…all I have to do now is to look for a alternative for maps. I try the native app on the Brax3, it work, the only thing is it not update. I test it today and some of the street did not match.
I do have some questions. The app from google used to make this work, do they compromise the security of the Brax3 phone? Like I said before, I’m new to all of this.
I have to thank guardian241 for this, men thank you. Also 0x7 for leading me to the post.
I believe you can remove network access from the Google apps through System Settings > Apps > All Apps > 3 dots > Show system > Speech Recognition and Synthesis from Google > Mobile data usage and de-select Allow network access, for example.
I want to confirm this works and compare / contrast to using the stub apps instead of the actual Google apps, but I don’t have an Android Auto capable car to confirm so I need to go visit a friend when I have some free time (and he does too )
I have tried more or less what was described in the beginning of the thread.
Even though it seems to work, I do not have any screen content shown on my Nissan Qashqai. No idea what to test next.
Head unit troubleshooting instructions only send me back to Google AA page.
I have android auto working on my 2025 VW Jetta. I downloaded the Google apps from the aurora store and turned off all network access for all the Google apps including Android auto. I use Waze as the navigation.
I try the google apps from the Aurora store. Did what rik subjected and it work. I own a Kia Seltos 2025. I also block all permissions for the apps, including AA.
I was going to use the stub, when to the side given by the instructions and could not find the apks in the folder. Sorry some times I miss the ball too.
I will keep trying. rik is there another way to download the stub ?
I’m willing to deleted the google apps and give it a try.
I again don’t have access to an Android Auto capable car, so I can’t test to confirm exactly how it works. But as I know the stubs are in this project:
You will find the 2 .apk files in the speechservicestub and the gappsstub folders.
I’m very happy to inform That it worksss. I the only app I did not removed was Maps. I went for a spin around the block and it look find. I’m going to take it for a long drive later.
One more thing after I removed the google apps, I did rebooted the Brax3 before installing the stubs.
Yes you can. You can even use it without logging in. Just make sure to run fully through Waze’s setup, making sure it is working before attempting to access it in AA
Some more testing. My Oneplus6 phone running Android 15/Lineage OS 22.2 runs fine with it.
As the Brax3 also runs the same android, I think a configuration issue is preventing me from seeing the screen.
anyone got an idea on why the screen remains black?
Audio stuff is shown (when changing song), but map display remains empty.
Anything I can check?
UPDATE: All of a sudden Android Auto started working wirelessly on my wireless only Chinese car screen today. The screen has zero connectivity so there was no new update there, and the phone is just on the most recent iodéOS 6.6-20250803-brax3. The only thing new is there was an update today to the Google app.
If you have the ability for wireless AA, you may want to check Aurora store for an update and try it. @rik@plamen
