It’s been a loooong road. I received a replacement phone. I’ve checked, double checked access point, MMS settings, tried 4 different texting apps… and I still don’t get some text threads that include iOS and Android phones. However, I do get some mixed threads. I really want to love the phone but I just can’t.

Houston, we may have a solution!!!
Turns out that the missing group texts were RCS texts, which has NOT been implemented in iodéOS. Below is ChatGPT’s repsonse regarding RCS and iodéOS.

RCS Group Texts and iodéOS

  • iodéOS does not include Google’s proprietary Messages app or the Google Play Services framework that handles RCS (Rich Communication Services).
  • Because of that, RCS features — including group chats, typing indicators, read receipts, and file sharing — don’t work out of the box.

So what is the solution? From what I’ve discovered…

For RCS texts sent from individuals
Nothing needs to be done.

For RCS Group Texts

  1. Since RCS Group texts will not be received, have your Android friends, who use Google Messages, do the following:

Messages → Settings → RCS Chats → Turn ON “Send as SMS/MMS when RCS is unavailable”

  1. Re-create the text group, all should be fine.

Yeah in a thread I started on this same topic, my carrier mentioned the RCS as well. But it’s good to know that it’s probably an iode update that’s necessary. Yet the qksms app from Aurora specifically has provided me a remedy (minus video messages).

Question: Do I have to acquire google messaging to then turn it off in my google account?

George beat me to it. Ensure that you’ve turned OFF RCS Messaging on your old phone, Go to this link, https://messages.google.com/disable-chat, and complete the form. DO NOT TURN RCS messaging back on - if you do it un-does the steps above and you’ll have to start over again.

De-register (steps above) then BE PATIENT!!! It does take the full 30-ish days (at least it did for me). I’m getting all texts now.
