I attempted to flash LunarOS 6.0 on BraX3 (which already had the userdebug version), SPFlash gave this error: “GPT Layout change. FW upgrade or Format all first.” I completed factory reset, attempted again, same error. Is there something else I should have done?

From the error it seems that you need to select firmware upgrade from the selector in spflash.

You can also select format all + download, but not that this will wipe your IMEIs.

Firmware upgrade was it, thank you plamen! No more userdebug watermark , flashed imei’s remain, Vzn calls and texts working.
Many thanks to you and the team for the extra effort in providing a userbuild!!

Great to hear it worked!
Would be good to hear your feedback after some time using it if you’re running it as a daily driver.

Forgot to ask…there was a file included that said ota…should that be flashed/installed/&how also, does it provide ability for over-the-air updates? Will there be updates to LunarOS 6.0?

Getting a good test of Vzn this week, hubby is traveling several states with no issues. :slightly_smiling_face:

It was my daily driver even with the debug watermark. So much nicer without it. Another benefit is having notification screen freed up from the iode trebuchet thing & serial console on the debug version. Interesting to read this is the most basic Android, others may find it old-school, I find the simplicity of design & shape of icons refreshing. Easy to locate what I need without a bunch of bloatware, I can do what I want/need, not what apple says I should do.

My use of a cell phone is basic: phone calls, sms, map navigation, browsing, music-thanks for the headphone jack! Had already been de-g**gled for a year on pixels with GOS. So had tried a lot from F-droid & found good substitutes.

Fossify apps: phone, contacts, messages, calendar, music, calculator, notes. Libre Camera offers good controls & basic editing. Tulsi Gallery is very nice. Jitsi Meet for face time. CoMaps suffices for me using RHVoice (hubby has a Garmin). KeePass -local only- provides the most privacy & easy to use. Aegis for authentication. Fossify apps have simple export of data, so backups are manual to a usb drive.

Thanks for preinstalled microG – Aurora store was needed for browsers (browser isolation). Browsers in F-droid are pitiful. I have a web app for Braxmail, hubby uses Thunderbird. MuPDF reader. Oh, & 3 weather apps - one for radar, one with better weekly format, & one for air quality – we don’t watch TV news/weather. Image of all my apps, only one home screen needed. Loving my BraX3.

The OTA file is installed via an update server. The plan it to push regular updates, yes.

Forgot feedback on Android Auto. Hubby uses it, with the debug version flashed, he turned on blue tooth, and it connected & worked, no setup (thanks to microG ?). It did stop showing contact name - only number - after a few weeks (still usable though). Not sure of cause. Connection via USB did not change that status. Will test again and update after flashing user build on his return.

Android Auto feedback: Actually, we didn’t need it. Hubby drives an F150 and Ford has Sync3. That’s what was automatically connecting via bluetooth. You can use AA if you choose, but all he wants is hands free call/text, which sync3 does. He uses a garmin for navigation.

Discovered the contact name not showing was due to an older version3 of vcard required in the native contacts/calling apps (due to Android 14??) which apparently sync3 defaults to, even though I had Fossify ‘set’ as the default apps in BraX3. The exported vcard files from Fossify are version4 & would not import into the native app. I manually copied/pasted each person as a new file. A 3rd party app (chose not to do) probably would have accomplished a retro reversion, & per research looks like Wndoz has a function to accomplish it but couldn’t fine anything in Linux, which I use, so finished it myself.

All is great. LunarOS gives us the chance to use/support BraX3 but still use Vzn, a necessity where we live. It also functions fine while he is on the road. For both of us, it’s our only phone/daily driver. Loving our BraX3’s!!!

I didn’t know that! But how can a Brax phone which is configured for the 600Mhz -700 Mhz 5G bands and not the 5G microwave bands used by Verizon? Is LunarOS able to use non microwave 5G signals which are a required part of the Verizon 5G spectrum? Or is Lunar OS and BraX3 using LTE instead? That makes more sense.

Can’t speak to the Mhz, I looked into the bands on Brax3 and the bands Vzn uses and determined only the 5G bands were missing on Brax, so I went ahead and ordered. I always set whatever phones we use to LTE, as I did the Brax3. All I know is it didn’t work on iode, but it does on Lunar. I wondered on another thread if it has something to do with the version of Android since Lunar is one lower than iode, or something in iode itself. I don’t know of anyone who got Vzn to work under iode after flashing IMEI, but a couple of others are using Lunar. It’s a mystery ; )

Edit: additional point is I had the phone set to LTE under iode also, but it would not connect.

Thanks for the information, I did not know this. In the past I was with Verizon. I reside in a rural farm area. One result is that this area would require many cell sites to get any type of decent coverage because of the microwave frequencies that Verizon uses for 5G. T-Mobile use former and now vacant UHF OTA broadcast TV channels from years ago. These frequencies behave differently and on result is they are much better for this type of geography. Trying to stay on topic here but this is an amusing anecdote. A few years ago local advertisements appeared daily about New 5G is here NOW! This made me curious where could these cell tower be located. I can see for miles, where are these “new 5G towers”? Even if the cell towers were 400 feet high ( typically 100’-200’) at the VZN 5G frequencies , it would require a porcupine of antennas pointing in many directions, but those directions only point at livestock or grapes? I have a portable spectrum analyzer with a waterfall display and a quality RF amp. Nothing anywhere, until I found one tower designed for another service, and there it was. One omnidirectional antenna that had a signal that could barely reach the highway! Typical cell sites have an array of antennas placed at 120 deg and slightly pointed down at about 10 degrees. What a joke! So technically YES on this day and at this time VZN does have 5G here but how can I use the service unless I know exactly where to stand? Typical marketing hyperbole! On result is there are few Verizon customers here. Maybe they can sell some VZN phones to the cows and goats?

I installed LunarOS 6.0.0 and everything seems to be working correctly.
However, I have a question: what is the enrollment process required at first boot?

Hi, just a question, is there microG preinsatalled in LunarOS ? Or any guide to install it ? Thanks

I would like complete the registration form but the page at http://signup.os-source.co does not work.

Thanks for reporting! Will check and revert back.
